preached to union congregations in
Janes street Methodist church. last
Sabbath morning and in Main street
in the evening. Rev. Mr. Wilson con-
ducted anniversary services at Wood
ham.
Mr. E. Pym took in the London
Conference Epworth League Con-
vention at London last week as del-
egate from the James St. League.
Miss Alnia May, one of the officers
of the Conference League was also
at the Convention. '
Rev. John Walker of Toronto, visited
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wnl. Walk-
er, of Exeter North over the week-
end. Mr. and Mrs. Walker leave
shortly for China where they will
engage in missionary work in con-
nection with the Methodist church.
"The Great Love" in motion pic-
ture was put on in the Opera House
Tuesday evening to a good sized
audience. The fowl supper at Credi-
ton, however was a counter attrac-
tion, that interferred with the size
of the crowd that usually greets a
Griffith picture in Exeter. The vaude-
ville proved an added attraction.

The editor was in a garage in a
neighboring town on Monday and
saw a beautiful McLaughlin special
auto undergoing repairs.' The car
had gone over a culvert and„ the
rear axle broken. We Were told the
driver had been under the influence
of liquor. Imagine how safe the roads
would be if the" bars were again op-
ened up for the sale of .intoxicating
liquors. To follow the'•aavice of the
Liberty League would mean to open
up the bar. Vote. "No"' on all four.

A special feature of,the Kirkton
Fair and one that attracted a lot of
attention was the Baby' Beef Con-
test. Each of the Councils of the
Townships of Usborne, -^Blanshard,
and Fullerton offered liberal prizes
Miss Vera Essery spent a few for their respective townships. The
days in London last week taking in Fair Board offered sweepstakes
the London Cenference Epworth prizes and Mr. Alfred Paul, a spec -
League Convention. ial of $10. Will Eseery won the first
and .second for Usborne Township,
the first and second sweepstakes
prize and also the $10 special, (Well
done Billy).

iting relatives in this neighborhood.

gue Convention will be held in the
Kirkton Methodist church, Friday,
October 10th, afternoon and evening

Mrs. John Crawford of Kippen
has the sympathy of her many
friends in the loss of an eye. Follow-
ing an operation some weeks ago
with a view to restoration of- the
sight, the eye became very painful,
and it became necessary for Dr.
Gandier, of Clinton, to remove it.
