Mr. Jack Hurdon and Mr. Archie Davis left last week for Buffalo where they will take positions. Miss Theda Guymer who has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Follick returned to her home in London this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Silber, and fam- ily of Libly, Mich., have returned af- ter a week's visit with Mrs. Wni. Kuntz. Miss Miriam Elston of Edmonton has returned home after visiting her brothers and sisters in town and vicinity. Mr. James Handford, Miss Annie Handford and Mrs. Rd. Davis are visiting in Toronto taking in the ex- hibition. Dr. and Mrs. Lannin have return- ed to their home in Hamilton after visiting the latter's mother, Mrs. S. Campbell. Mrs. Susan Atkinson left this week on an extended visit to London and Owen Sound. Misses Vera and Reta Rowe and Master Rowe Dinney have returned home after holidaying for a week at Grand Bend. Rev. Dr. Medd is in Toronto this week attending the Annual Meeting of the General Board of Evangelism and Social Service. Mrs. Melville has sold the resi- dence she recently purchased from the estate of the late Mrs. J. Brown to Mrs. Andrew Hackney. Mr. and Mrs. Benson Tyreman and Miss Melville of Seaforth and Mrs. Gracey of Edmonton, were guests of Dr. and Mrs. Medd on Fri- day.. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Tomlinson, and son, Clifford, and Miss Lizzie P'rayne of London, motored up and visited over the week -end with rela- tives in town. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Boyle of Tor- onto, motored up and visited for a few days with relatives in town:" They were accompanied by Mrs. G. .Atkinson, of London. Corp, Gordon Morley who enlisted in the Perth Batt., at St. Marys. ar- rived home last week from overseas with his bride and his many friends were glad to welcome him home. In the report of the lower school examinations which were published fast week the name of Miss Carrie Anderson should have appeared as. a pupil of the Exeter school. Mr. and Mrs. E. French and dau- ghters Bernice and Ruth, of Toron- to motored up and spent a few days. with Mr. and Mrs. E. A_ Follick. Mr Jos. Follick accompanied them back back to Toronto. Messrs. Stewart, Heaman, Taman and Seldon took in the bowling tournament at the London Asylum un Wednesday of last week and were successful in getting in the prizes. They won three games with a Iarge plus. In the finals they were defeat- ed by two shots. Mr. and Mrs. Byrd motored over from Toronto and visited Miss Stella Gregory here lase week. Mr. Byrd is a brother of the late Lieut. Byrd, who made so many ` warm friends while visiting here, and who was kil- led in action Aug. 31st of last year at Arras, France, Mr. A. E. Kuhn has resumed his position as manager of the Bank of Commerce after an absence of sev- eral months owing to illness. His many friends will be pleased to know thea he has regained his health Mr. J. H. Dent, who has been acting manager, has returned to Oshawa. Two rinks of howlers motored from town to Stratford on Wednes- day of last week and took part in the Stratford bowling tournament.Both rinks won two and lost two games. The rinks were W. Iicdgert, Chas. Robinson, W. T,. Acheson and Wm. Rivers, skip. A ring skipped by A. Whitesides of Hensail, were inside the prizes, winning three games out of fear -with large plus. . Hagen of the Thessalon are visiting the former's mother, Mrs. Jas. Ramsay. Miss Stella Gregory has accepted a position on the stall: of the newly formed High School here. Miss Greg- ory's record of success is an. enviable one andshe holds a prominent place amongst the High School tea- chers of the Province. For the last eight years she was on the staff of the Chatham Collegiate Institute. Pte. Mervyn Russell, who has just returned back from overseas visit- ed in town for a ,few days before leaving for his home in the west. Pte Russell enlisted in the west at the age of 16 years. He was wound- ed in the leg and is slightly lame as a result. He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Sweet, and Mr. and Mrs. David Russell, Sr. of town. Mr. Chas. Steinhagen of Hay, -who osme time ago suffered from senile gangerine in one foot. and who bad part of the foot removed by all oper- tion, is able to be around and engage in his work. Mr. Steinhagen has been under the care of Dr. Browning. This is the second case of a nirniliar nature that Dr. Browning has been successful in curing.
