RAINS DO MUCH GOOD . ' a i
The heavy rains of 'Wedneisda.y,

however will hive little effect on bay,
of the crops (till in the ground but

was at a tandstill with very little
done. Turin: the (summer' the ground
had become baked so hard that 'tall
plowing was almost ;impossible. Muth!
of the fa'l wheat lin consequence has
not been town and what was eown
has made !low progress. The heavy
'rains and the fine weather that 'has
f&lowed has enabled the farmers to
dot their plowing. ,Corn is being hare,

Some potatoes are turning out better

The stub of cigar is believed, to, be
the cause of the fire which destroyed
the Crystal Palace at Mitchell Fair

charred 'timber marks the spat where
the build?n.g 'formerly stood. The .cry

furs were all ;hurriedly; removed, and
only a few `.flowers and some vegee
