Such a tout as this id unique, in the annals of music Madam Rappold is one of the inventor's most valuable co-workers in. bis experiments with the human, voice ie his 'famous L: boratorie5 at -Orange, N.J. Her voice is of singular 'purity, such a vole,) as the wizard has need of in hiswork on acoustics, and he has made frequent use of it. A few, weeks ago before a gathering of music crit es, the Prima Donna undertook to sing in unison with a record o.,1 her+ voice, with the astounding result that it was impossible for even trained ears to distinguish between her living and re-created voices. Edison regards this perfect matching of the human voice as one o: his greatest achievements, and said so. frankly to some of his iriends•present ad the 'time of this experiment. The past season at the Metropolitan has been the 'most brilliant of, Madam Rappold's career. She has. sung scores of exacting roles, including Desdemona in "Otello," Leonora in "11 Trovatore," Elsa in "Lohengrixaa' Elizabeth in "Tanahauser," Eva in "Die Meistersinger," and Freia in "Das '11beingold," Only recently she sang one of the leading roles in Herman. Goetz's operatic version of "Tho Taming or the Shrew." Madam Rappold is a Brooklynite. Since she attained prominence in the operatic world she has received many flattering offers from 'foreign impresarios, she she prefers her own country.
