(photo by Sam Kinsman) December busy month for MacKay Centre for Seniors activities The month of December was a busy one at MacKay Centre with members finding time to attend our programs during this busy Christmas Season. The Town of Goderich donated a Christmas tree to MacKay Centre and an afternoon social was held to trim the tree. Christmas cake and refreshments were served by the catering committee and Joan Henwood played piano for the carol singing. The pot luck luncheon and movie was GOVERNMENT OF CANADAi--------- /74 •• •. Canada f cw CELEBRATION 88 Canada Celebration 88 r AWARDS Celebration 88 The Goderich Tourist Committee seeks assistance from the community for nominations in relation to the GOVERNMENT OF CANADA'S CELEBRA- TION '88 AWARDS PROGRAM which is part of the country's 1988 Olym- pics celebration. There are two types of awards - Medals and Certificates with support information outlined in the nomination forms below. Nominations can also be made to honour the efforts of a deceased citizen. The January movie is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 8 and is a com- edy starring Walter Matthau and Carol Burnett. The MacKay Choristers have had a busy month performing at a Christmas Concert on Dec. 7, then entertaining at Huronview on the 14th. The Choristers also presented a Christmas Concert at our Variety Pro- gram on Dec. 18. They were joined by the Junior Choir from North Street United Church and the program included a special Christmas play read to music en- titled "Brother Heinrich's Christmas". Keep Fit Classes start up again on Mon- day, Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. The Keep Fit Class is designed`for'semors' and the instructor for this session will be Debbie Stanley. To register or for more details call the office at 524-6660. The Happy Gang Dancers held their last. dance before Christmas on Dec. 16. The HAPPY 25th ANNIVERSARY MOM & DAD (Carol & Lynn Meyers) group had lunch . at the Candlelight Restaurant and returned to MacKay Cen- tre for an afternoon of dancing. Dances start up again on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 1:3 p.m. A Beginners Bridge Class and a Begin ners Crochet Class are offered fo January. Anyone interested in these classes are asked to call the office at MacKay Centre to register. A craft meeting will be held on Jan. 11 to discuss projects and plans for the new year. As 1987 draws to a close the centre would like to thank all the volunteers who have helped"(out 'programs at' MacKay -Centre. Without their help and support it would not be possible to offer such a varied calendar of events. 1988 membership cards are now ready and can be picked up from the office or at our January events. Membership is still $3.00 for the year.
