MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR

Herrnan lea
Floyd Herman has returned to lead his
"Hurlers" to their first victory in the In-
dustrial League curling!
After dropping their first four games,
the Hurlers finally got on track and
defeated the Sifto Shakers in a 10-5 contest.
This means there are no longer any
winless teams in the Thursday night
league.
Also winning last week were the
Rutheless Rokkies, skipped by John Har-
rison, who took the win from the Sheppar-
ton Shufflers, 8-5.
Keith Crittenden's Hosers were able to
put out an early fire that Jeff Harrison's
Super Shell team had lit, and went on to a
12-4 win.
Glen Falkner didn't give Kathy's V & G
Grippers any easy shots, and soundly
defeated them by an 11-3 score.
The closest game of the evening was an
encounter between the Healthy Hackers,
skipped by John Orr, and Charlie
Crawford's Ice Cubes. Charlie had them
down two coming home, but the Health
Unit tied it up to send it into an extra end.
Seems like John Orr saved his shots for
thatone on the eighth, as he had been miss-
ing them all night long until then. But he

w s able to split both of Charles rocks out,
ad leave himself with two to tie it up.
On the extra end, Charlie had last stone,
but missed his last rock to leave Orr and
his Health Unit with one. Final score was
7-6.
Cam Bogie's Forester team didn't feel
and compassion for the Lady Forester
team, sending them down to a 10-1 defeat,
while Jack Kellough, skipping the Legion
Team had a close game with Gardiner's
Big Enders, defeating them in a close 6-5
encounter.
In another close game, Dixie Cameron's
Flower Power stole a few ends from Chris
Connor's GDCI team and wound up on the
winning side of an 8-7 score.
CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES
Each of the draws this week are plann-
ing some festive events, with the Thursday
Night Industrial having a contest to see
which team comes up with the most
"Festive" costume, song, or sign, to
display their Christmas spirit. Food and
refreshments will all be part of the even-
ing, and George Sutton and Doug Bundy
will be on hand to help judge the teams as
to their "spirit".
The Friday Night Mixed group will also
be holding some special events on the 18th.
Check with Terry Worsell for more
information.

Novice comeback a goal short
The McDonald's Novice A team fell one
goal short in an exciting comeback at-
tempt against Parkhill in Goderich Dec.
13, losing 7-6.
Mike Petrie scored from Brad Jones and
Steve Hamilton with just 20 seconds left in
the game, providing the exciting finish.
Petrie had scored earlier in the third from
Jones and James Moody to give Goderich
a shot and cut the score to 7-5.
Hamilton and Tim Powell opened the
scoring for Goderich with Craig Corriveau
picking up an assist. Parkhill tied the
game at two before the end of the period.
Jones' unassisted marker put Goderich
up 3-2 early in the second, but the rest of
the period belonged to Parkhill as they
scored four straight goals to go up 6-3. Cor-
riveau scored on a penalty shot in the last
minute of the second to cut the lead to two
goals.
Parkhill scored the winner early in the
third period.
In other action the McDonald's team
won a 3-0 road game against Thamesford
on Dec. 12.
