Giving handmade presents makes
Christmas gifts special, Colleen
Dear Colleen,
I don't have any money to buy my family
Christmas present. What should I do?
Philip
Dear Philip,
Remember the saying, "It's the thought
that counts." You should make them a
Christmas present yourself. I'm sure they'll
like it just as much, even better!
Dear Advisor,
My brother talks in his sleep and I can not
get to sleep, and he is a pest.
Your friend,
T.M.
Dear T.M.,
Your brother could just be pretending.
Tell him that you are going to ask him a per-
sonal question in his sleep. If his answer
doesn't make sense, than you know he's not
pretending. There's nothing you can do
about it accept wear earmuffs.
P.S. – Pests grow up to be nice people.
Dear Advisor,
Mybrother always eats all the chips and I

Dear Jenny,
Get two bowls and divide the chips into
equal amounts. Whoever puts them in the
bowls gets last, choice of which bowl and
they you'll both have equal amounts.
If you have a problem, I'd like to hear
from you. Drop your letter into The Signal -
Star or mail it to the Goderich Signal -Star,

Special thanks to the grade 8 class for con-
structing the float, Arnold Young for pro-
viding the horsepower, Helen and Jim
Fisher for the wagon, students council for
riding on the float, the Colborne dads who
helped frameithe super structure, Irene and
Barry Millian for providing the siding and

$1000.00. Thanks for your support.
The Colborne Community Group met on
November 10 and are planning a social
evening in mid January. Details will be an-
nounced once arrangements are finalized.
The Colborne senior girl's and senior
boy's volleyball teams emerged champions
last weekend at G.D.C.I. The volleyball
tournament involved teams from
Brookside, Robertson, Holmesville and Col-
borne Central. All the teams were evenly
matched and the wins reflect the Colborne
student's hard work and their mastery of
the volleyball skills. Mr. Harman and Mr.
Sanders are extremely proud of their teams.
Kindergarten has been busy decorating
their classroom for Christmas with Santas,
reindeer and paper chains. "Rudolph the
Red Nosed Reindeer" is one of our favorite
songs. We are having fun playing bells,
sticks and tambourines for one of our
Christmas concert songs. See you then!
Grade 1/2 are busy working on many dif-
ferent Christmas related activities in
Language Arts. Each day we are learning a
new Christmas word and drawing a picture
of it. We are looking forward to presenting
our part in the Christmas concert.
Grade 2/3 has been practising hard for the
Christmas Concert. We enjoyed a visit from
Mrs. Dee Graham, our Art co-ordinator and
now have two beautiful Christmas murals
on display.
Mr. Sanders' grade 3/4 are busy prepar-
ing for the Christmas concert. They are do-
ing a skit called "The Marvellous Toy" and
that features singing, pantomine and an
automated "Marvellous Toy." They are
also busy writing a letter to their new pen-
pals in Beaumont, Alberta.
We have been very busy in the past couple
of weeks in Grade 5/6. Along with our
regular class activities we have been work-
ing on our "Animal Coverings" unit and are
learning a lot. We have also been scurrying
around keeping our soup" ,days running
smoothly. We are looking foward to
Christmas Concerts and all other Christmas
activities such as Christmas type crafts.
Time sure flies when you're busy.
Mr. Bond's Grade 6/7 have been busy
creatively writing a Christmas play which
speaks heavily to the importance of women
at the North Pole. All are invited to attend
on Wed. Dec. 9 to enjoy and be educated by
the experience.
The Grade 8 class has had a busy couple of
weeks. They were responsible for the crea-

CONNECTIONS
tion of the Colborne prize winning float.
They have also been occupied getting art-
work ready for the Christmas concert. They
constructed the stage extension and hooked
up the lighting. They are also busy prepar-
ing their own interpretation of a novel
Christmas song that will debut the night of
the Concert.
The annual Christmas Concert at Col-
borne Central Schoolis scheduled for 7:30 on
Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1987. This year the con-
cert will feature numbers from the Primary
and Senior choirs as well - as individual
presentations from each of the classrooms.
Everyone is cordially invited to attend our
01' Time Christmas extravaganza.
On Thursday afternoon, Dec. 17, the entire
school will attend the Park Theatre in
Goderich to view "Harry and the Hender-
sons." The pupils will be dismissed from the
theatre. The buses will leave at 3:30 p.m.
Admission to this special matinee will be
paid by the Colborne staff as our Christmas
treat to the pupils.
On Friday, Dee. 18 the school will travel to
the Goderich Arena for our annual Pre -
Christmas skating party, thanks to the
cooperation of the Goderich Recreation
Board. Parents and younger siblings are
most welcome to join us at the arena at 1:00.
Dismissal will be from the Arena at 2:30 on
that day.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thurs-
day mornings the last week of school before
Christmas break from 9:00-9:20, the entire
school will gather in the gym to sing
Christmas Carols. Children may bring
Christmas gifts for needy children in the
Goderich vicinity to be placed under our
Christmas tree on these occasions. On Fri-
day, Dec. 18 the Salvation Army will pick up
these contributions so they can be
distributed before Christmas.
