VandG wins first' game in
Thursday night's Industrial curling was
a big night for the Victoria and Grey team,
skipped by Kathy Murdoch. They won
1i
their first game in over two years, handing
Dave Young's "Big Ender" team a sound
12 to 5 thrashing. Maybe it had something
to do with the fact that Dave's wife had
just given birth, and he was spending more
time handing out cigars than calling the
r ` •1, shots! Congratulations on the new baby,
r too bad you had to lose the game, Dave.
Helping out with the V & G win was vice
Emily Crew, second Steve Ingrey, and
lead Jim Coffey.
In the other games that night, Dixies
Flower Power came up with a 6-5 victory
over the Lady Forester Rockettes, The
Super Shell Shooters dealt the Sifto
Shakers a 10-4 hand, and John Orr and his
Healthy Hackers scored a big three on the
final end to erase a tie and beat the Hosers
Firemen 7-4.
In the 9 p.m. draw, the most exciting
match started out as a laugher, when the
1863 Sliders held a 9 to zip edge after five
ends, only to have, it dwindle away as
Floyd Herman and his Hurlers came up
with a five -ender and another three to be
liszsmmimmmcmsmysz MWZ:Tc=ST5*-OnlY,SaiT5QtY4ZSZzaCTSZVOrMaIMYSZMST5ZMMEyo trailing only by one coming home. Glen
Falkner didn't falter, however and scored
four on the last end to win by 13-8.
Cam and his Foresters continue to
frighten their opponents, scaring the Port
Albert Ice Cubes by a 10-4 score, while the
Shepardton Shufflers defeated the Legion
team 8-4. Winding up the evening on a win-
ning note were the Ruthless Rookies, skip-
ped by John Harrison who defeated the
GDCI Teacher team 13-3.

ON THE
ROCKS
at the Maitland
from last week's report. We mistakenly
gave the Ruthless Rookies the win over
Gardiners in the first game, but it should
have been the other way around. Gar -
diners by a 5-4 score. Sorry guys!
In the Monday night industrial we had
McGees defeating the Health Unit 7-3, Jim
Ginn's Farmers taking the Champion
Graders by 9.2, and Karen Kirk's team
walloped Terry Worsell's Plumbers by an
two years
11-4 score. Bernice Moore's team defeated
Don MacEwan's team 5-2, and Eleanor Er-
skine settled the score with the Bluewater
team 7-3.
A big event is coming up at the Maitland
at the end of the month that some people
who enjoy watching competitive curling
will be interested in: Our club will be
hosting the Regional Play -downs for the
ONTARIO CURLING ASSOCIATION on
Nov. 30, Dec. 1 & 2.
Our representative in the Provincial
Ladies competition, will be defending their
title against teams from all over this
region of South -Western Ontario. Good
luck to Vicki, Lynn, Emily and Faye as
they take on the best ladies teams around.
Spectators are welcome. You should be
treated to some fine curling, folks!
Peewee Bs lose 2 games
The Goderich Peewee B team dropped
two league games last week a 4-3 squeaker
in Clinton awl a 9-4 shootout to visiting
Hensall.
Three third period goals by Clinton gave
them a conte -from -behind win, after
Goderich had taken a 3-1 at the end of the
second.
The teams traded goals in the first
period with Jason Lajeunesse scoring
unassisted for Goderich. The Peewee Bs
scored the oily two goals of the second
period to take a 3-1 lead. Trevor Bazinet
scored early in the period from Derick
Stinson and later, Bill Ingham unassisted.
Goderich get off to a good start in a wild.
nine -goal first period against the visiting
Hensall team by scoring the first goal.
Chris Dickson scored to open the game
from Lajeunesse.
Hensall then connected for three quick
goals before Goderich scored a pair by In-
gham and Lajeunesse to tie the game at
three. However, the second period would
not end until Hensall had scored two more
goals.
Jeff Phalan set-up Dickson for the only
goal of the second period and cut the Hen-
sall lead to 5-4.
Much like the Clinton game the Bs allow-
ed their opponent to put the game out of
reach in the third as Hensall scored four
unanswered goals to win.
