Arthur Circie Auxiliary hold Remernbr
The Arthur Circle Auxiliary meeting was
held November 16 in the parlour of Knox
Church. President Joyce Garrick opened
the meeting with a reading pertaining to a
Remembrace Service for three members
who had died during the year — Helen
McManus, Margaret Govier and Ruth
Harris.
The GDCI flute ensemble, comprised of
Miriam Weerasooriya, Laurie Dawson, Lisa
Steckle, Susan Snell, Abbie Smallwood and
Laurie MacKecknie, played several
numbers including Allegro Schegando,
Gigue and My Favorite Things. Hazel Mc-
Creath thanked the group for their
presentation.
Suzanne German and her group con-
ducted the devotions and musical part of the
program. She introduced Mr. George
Knight, a manufacturing engineer with
Champion Road Machinery. Mr. Knight has
been employed with Champion for the past
10 years. He spoke to the group about his
trips to China, Japan and Thailand. He
stated that 50 million people live in Bangkok
which is near a sea port where large ships
come. He mentioned that there is a 12 hoax
time difference. Buddism and Moslem are
their religions and he added that Thailad is
known as the land of smiles. !Sports suchas
soccer, tennis, golf, swimming, track and
field, tack ball and now kick boxing are a
high priority. The women make beautiful
umbrellas and another craft is leather work.
Mr. Knight concluded saing they have a
large department store, and also franchises
of MacDonald's .and Kentucky Fried
Chicken.

from the countries.
Norine Robinson gave an inspiring
reading. The scripture was read by Hazel
McCreath followed by prayer by Norine.
"Christ for the world we sing" was sung,
accompanied by Betty Coulter.
The year is closing on a positive note in
that the Pie Bake was a success and Joyce
announced the next meeting will be
December 21 for a Christmas program.
The president closed the meeting with
prayer.
