(photo by Pat Raftis) Midgets rip Belmont 7-3, lose 4-3 The Goderich Midgets split a pair of Shamrock League games on the weekend, hammering Belmont 7-3 in Belmont Fri- day and losing a tough 4-3 decision at home Saturday. In the game , in Belmont Friday; Goderich led 2-1 after one period, increas- ed the lead to 5-2 after two periods and then outscored Belmont 2-1in the final period to produce the 7-3 final. MikeRadford provided the offensive spark for Goderich scoring three goals and assisting on two others for a five -point ef- fort. He scored the first two goals of the game just one minute apart to boost Bantams tie Goderich Elevator Bantams journeyed to Belmont last Friday and played host to Lambeth here on Saturday Friday's ac- tion saw the team gain a 3-3 tie with a goal by Shawn Talbot assisted by Jeff Hodge and Chris O'Neill with only eight seconds remaining in the game.. First period goals by Hodge and Jean-Paul Cauchi stood up ' until Belmont knotted the score by the end of the second. In the third period Belmont took the lead with what appeared to be the winning goal until goalie Bob Lumley was pulled in favour of an extra attacker which resulted m the tying goal. In Saturday's game the Bantam's lost a well played game 4-2 to Lambeth. Sponsored by the Goderich Elevator Co. Team-mate Jim Sinnett also turned in a fine performance scoring two goals and assisting on two of Radford's scores. Rad ford returned the favor by setting up Sin- ,nett's goals. Wayne Nivil ind Scott Glew scored the other Goderich goals and Glew chipped in with two assists as well. ' Goderich let a game slip a way from them here Saturday as they led 3-1 midway through the final period only to watch Lambeth score three straight goals, the winner with just 30 seconds • left in the game, to steal a 4-3 victory. Goderich led 1-0 after one period on Nivins' goal but Lambeth scored the only goal of the second period to tie the game 1-1 heading into the final period. Goderich took the lead 3-1, with Mike Radford and Greg Alcock scoring in the first minute and a half of the final period. ' The lead evaporated, however, as Lambeth scored three straight goals to claim the victory. and lose against Lambeth of uniforms. The Wallbangers burned up the lanes taking all seven points from the No Names High games from Sandy Fielder 203, Ann Smith 213, 219, Helen Lewis 191, 234, Dianne Scott 237. The No Names took no points but had good games from Irene Hannah 165, June Rourke 166. In the last few weeks some good scores have been recorded. Art Burt has high single with 395 and held the high five with, 1445 until Dick McLean rolled 336, 939, 310 to a 1465 to take high five.
