BY MARIAN STEIGMEIER
-Robertson's Instrumental Music Program
for Grades 7 and 8 has been growing by
leaps and bounds. This. year we have the
largest:classes ever in both grades!
Robertson is a great place to start on an
instrument! Students have the opportunity
to play their instruments every day'through
the week and at least every other weekend.
Lots of practice goes in for concerts, both in
and out of school time!
The saxophone is, of course, our most
popular instrument, but students also have
the clarinet, the flute, the trumpet, the
trombone, and percussion to choose from.
Whichever instrument you play, a band is a
great place to be. We enjoy our time
together, get a lot of music learned, and
have some fun performing besides.
Last year, Robertson's Grade 8 in-
strumental class had the privilege of perfor-
ming in combination with G.D,C.I's in-
termediate . band. It was a valuable ex-
perience for everyone involved. This year
we have different plans for our talented
Grade 8 students. Nothing has been -finalized
yet, but it promises to be an exciting year!
Our Grade 7 class will also be making
their debut in the not -so -distant future. Keep
an eye out for concert dates.
For $40.00 per year, Robertson's in-
strumental program is the best bargain in
Huron County. We owe this low cost to the
support of the Goderich Music Boosters,
who have helped us run our annual bowl -a .
thons to raise money for instruments. This
group has also contributed funds to the
school over the past two years for music
purchases, bussing costs, and other musical
needs. They invite the parents of Robert-
son's music students to get involved with
Boosters.
If you are interested in supporting the
music programs in Goderich schools, con-
tact the music teachers in those schools,
who are also members .of the Goderich
Music Boosters.
Watch for dates and locations of future
concerts involving Robertson's music
students. They're all looking forward to see-
ing you next time they perform!

Choir gives many performances
BY Dianne Crysler
AND MARIE BURBINE
Last year the Senior Choir consisted of 108
people. The Senior Choir travelled to Varna
for a concert for the Cancer Society, and to
the Walkerton Music Festival, where we
won first place.
The Senior Choir also did many perfor-
mances for their fellow classmates at
Robertson during the year. Mr. Herman led
the choir while Mrs. Steigmeier accom-
panied the choir with the piano.
This year's Senior Choir consists of 140
students from our Sr. wing. Mr. Herman is
still leading the choir but Mrs. Freeman has
offered to play the piano this year.
Coming events which the Senior Choir
wishes to include a concert at the
MacKay Hall on Oct. 28 and to the Walker-
ton Music Festival this year. •
