The River
BY TARA CORNISH
It was a still, Sunday afternoon.
He sat alone by the riverbank while the
birds chirped softly and squirrels
scampered about the trees. The river ran
smoothly over some rocks, while the sun
shone brightly on the mirror like surface of
the water. The air was mild and made him
feel relaxed. The river was such a clear blue
you could see the fish swim about the rocks.
As he sat patiently waiting for what he
hoped to be a great sunset, he heard a loon
on the other side of the river. Within no time
he saw the loon fly so graceful towards the
south.
The sun then slowly went down. It was a
beautiful sunset with colours of orange,
yellow and sort of a pinkish colour with a
blue background coming from the sky.
While he was watching the sun some geese
flew in front of it. It was the most astounding
sight that he had ever seen.
The Lonely
BY CONNIE HUBER
Day after day she's feeling kind of lonely.
Day after day it's him and him only.
Something's in his eyes and made her hopes
start to rise. But he's part of a world that
doesn't include a lonely person. Nothing he
says could ever delude her. She'll never win.
This is how it's always been. She's on the
outside... looking in.
Night after night she says a prayer. Night
after night... that somebodywill care!
Somebody to hear her.
Somebody to stay near her.
She's -all alone. You've got to believe her.
She just can't win. That's how it's always
been...
She's on the outside - on the outside.
Looking in.
