Goderich IODE will be holding an Afternoon
Tea and Dessert Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the
Goderich Legion from 2 to 4 p.m. Constable
Robin Shrive, of the Waterloo Regional
ice Department and co-ordinator of
CRIME -STOPPERS, will be guest speaker
during the afternoon and will be speaking on
Policing in the '80s, including topics such as
sexual assault prevention, self-defense, and
frauds aimed.at senior citizens. Tickets are
$5 per person and are available at Chisholm
TV or from any IODE member. Included in
the ticket price is a chance to win a
homemade afghan.

on "Suicide Prevention and Survivor's
Grief", Helping Those At Risk. What helps?
What hurts?, will be held at the Maitland

seminar is of iinterest to all In the health and
educational fields, clergy, police, funeral

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22 - A new pro -
grain for children whose parents have been
through a separation or divorce is being of-
fered by the Huron Centre. The program of-
fers separate groups for custodial parent
and children age 12-14. Meeting Thursdays,
October 22 to November 19 from 7 to 8:30
p.m. at Ontario Street United Church, Clin-
ton. The program is offered to provide
children with information and an opportuni-
ty to discuss issues related to living through

Davy, co-author of Microwaved Maple, will

p.m. at the Huronview Auditorium in Clin-

using this type of cooking•tool. Tips on cook-
ing meats and meal management will also

mother help in a series of four monthly
meetings based on the manual' "The
Womanly Art of Breastfeeding." The
meeting discussions include the latest
medical research, as well as aersonal ex-

Six workshops
at Huronview
Mrs. Joan Spittal, chairman of the plann-
ing committee for the conference "C.hapter
Two: New Directions" has announced the
six workshop topics which will be offered at
the conference to be held at Huronview on
Thursday, November 12.
The topics, which were selected by the
Huron County Community Services Council,
include: youth services, employment hous-
ing, transportation, mental health and infor-
mation services. The Council is pleased with
the high quality of the panelists who have
been selected for each workshop to act as
resource people to provide advice and
guidance when plans of action are being
developed.
Spittal, who is a social worker at the Alex-
andra Marine and General Hospital, said,
"One of the Council's goals is to have those
attending the conference participate in the
development of action plans to solve some of
the problems and needs identified. Par-
ticipants will be invited to help set the
wheels in motion."
Workshops are being scheduled so that
each participant at the conference will be
able to - attend three workshops of their
choice. Participants are being asked to in-
dicate on their advance registration forms
which workshops they wish to attend. The
deadline for registering for the conference
is October 23, 1987.
The registration fee of $15.00 includes all
activities, lunch and coffee breaks. Persons
who have special needs for funding, atten-
dant care or an interpreter in order to at-
tend this conference could contact either

Spittal has received word from Graham
DeVeber; Regional Director of the Canadian
Hearing Society, that he will sign/interpret
the opening remarks at the conference for
the hearing impaired.
The Huron County Social Services Coun-
cil, who is sponsoring this conference, want

4H club members design ads
The third meeting of the Dungannon 4H
Club was held on September 26.
It was held at the home of Carol Nivins.
There were 14 members present and they
answered the roll call by showing the adver-
tisement they designed for an Ontario
Foodland vegetable that they had to do for
home activities in meeting two.
Medting four was held October 5 at leader
Mary -Ann Brindley's home.
At this meeting, we were learning how to
judge apples. There's a lot to this and there
are different opinions.
There were 14 members present. The
next meeting is to be held on October 19 at
Jean and Joyce McWhinney's.
