Kinsmen life after 40
When Hal Rogers first initiated the
Kinsmen Club, he intended 4 to be a
young man's club. It is still that way to-
day, but the K-40 club has proved there is
life after age 40.
K -40 -which is essentially aIKinsmen
Club for members over the ge of 40 -was
a natural and spontaneous o tgrowth of
the Kinsmen Club. .
Kinsmen over 40 retained heir friend-
ships and found themselves involved in
some worthy projects. i
As time went on, the associations were
put on a more formal level. The result
was "Senators"-, "Paskins",1 'PP -40 and
..k-40."
The various names hove been in use in.
clubs across the country in'the past, but
K-40 is generally used to describe the
movement.
Today there are many active K-40
clubs across Canada and many new clubs
are forming each year. Also, in associa- °
tion with the development of K-40, was
the -emergence of K-Ettes.
When the K-40 Club was formed, D. -J.
Patterson was its first president.
Authorized by the Kinsmen Club for its
former and present members over the
age of 40, it was designed as a social
club.
- Its members numbered about 35 and
Patterson was chosen as the club's first
president in recognition of his devoted
service to Kinsmen and for his work with
the Octogenarian Club.
Other club officers included: Gord Ban-
nister, vice-president and William Ross,
secretary -treasurer.
