Together, young men.
of Kinsmen have
accomplished a great deal
What can 35 young men, between the ages of 20 and 45, from all walks of life, ac-
complish when they get together? I've discovered they can do a lot, and I think if the
people of Goderich look back over the last 40 years they'll realize how much a group
such as the Kinsmen can do. The dedication shown by this young, sometimes inex-
perienced but always dedicated group of men has always impressed me.
Goderich was a foreign land to me five years ago.
A friend at work brought me out to a Kinsmen
meeting and I met a group of people who
possibly changed my life. These people were
friendly and helpful, they worked hard and
played hard, and throughout it all they all
shared the same objectives, to serve the com-,
munities greatest needs.
Forty years of service to Goderich have
meant a wide variety of "greatest needs". From
building parks and helping the mentally retard-
ed to upgrading the hospital and funding an ice
machine, these people were always around doing
the best they could, often giving more than 100%.
Being a young men's service club means sometimes making mistakes, but thisalso
becomes a learning process. This learning has helped develop a great number of peo-
ple in this community into the honest, dedicated and generoug3businessmen they are
today.
Forty years have changed the needs of the community, but they haven't changed
the -spirit of Kinsmen. Many of today's members have been in the_club less than 5
years, but they share the same spirit as the older members, the same spirit shared
by the original founding members of this club and the same spirit shared by 22,000
men across Canada.
But our spirit and commitment to serving the community's greatest need could
never have resulted in success stories it has without you. You, the people of Goderich
and the surrounding areas. You're the ones who support our drives, attend our
dances & buy our tickets. It's the generous people of this town, your next door
neighbours, who actually buys the Zambonis, furnish the hospital rooms and helps
pay for the minor sports our kids enjoy. I'd like to thank these generous people for
supporting our efforts. it's they're generosity that's made this club successfulf or 40
years. It's their generosity that -has made me feel a part off this community.
I'm looking forward to a good celebration on October 17th when the Kinsmen Club
of Goderich celebrates it's 40th Anniversary with the Association of Kinsmen Clubs of
Canada.
I'd like to encourage anyone who feels they'd like to do something good for others
and find a sense of fullfilment in doing so, to consider joining the men an dwomen in
the service clubs of Goderich.

Service with a smile.
We Kinsmen are enterprising, energetic young Canadians.
Since we treasure our freedom as the single most important part
of our Canadian heritage. we gladly accept the responsibilities
that are the price of that freedom.
If you're one of us, under forty and eager to serve your community
as an enterprising volunteer, we'd be proud to have you join Kin.
You'll get used to the idea of self -development and a.sense of
personal fulfillment. You'll share in some very good times,
meet people like yourself and do your community a lot of good.
That's service with a smile. Kin style.
To get started, all you have to do is call your local Kinsmen Club
or write us at the address below. Better still.
just come to our next get-together.
