Bye for now,

Go to school to get job
Dear Colleen:
Why do we have to go to school and do the
same thing all the time?
Jamie
Dear Jamie:,
You have to go to school because you can
get a good job when you are older. You do
the same things because you have to learn
the work off by heart.
* * *
Dear Colleen:
How could I get away from my sister? She
always pulls my hair and pinches my face.
What should I do? She's one year old.
from Randy
Dear Randy:
Stay far enough away that she can't reach
your face, but still play with her. Next time
correct her.
PS. Don't be mean,

Colborne elects students council
The year is well underway. at Colborne
Central School. The staff and student body
would like to welcome Mrs. Mary Anne Rea
to our school. We hope that she will enjoy
her stay with us. Mrs. Rea, who is coming to
assume Mr. Brereton's position on staff, is
teaching the grade 2/3 class.
Student Council elections took. place on
Friday. Alt elecutive positions were con-
tested. Chris Marchl & Rose -Marie Young
ran for the position of treasurer. Jackie
Vanstone and Terri -Lynne Wagner ran for
the position of secretary. Angie Clarke and
Meighan Wark sought the vice-presidents
position and the position of president ap-
pealed "to Victor Bond, Brett Harman and
Michelle Haasnoot. After a week of very
serious campaigning the executive that was
elected included Brett Harman, Meighan
Wark, Jackie Vanstone and Chris March.
With their able leadership, 1987/88 should be
a great year.
On Friday afternoon the members of an
antique car club from Michigan, who were
dining at Benmiller,'drove their pre -World
War 1 vehicles around the school. The
children were fascinated by these vintage
automobiles.
The children in grades 5, 6, 7 & 8 will be
selling Hallowe'en potato chips during the
next week or so. Profits from the chip sales
will be put toward our Adventure
Playground project.
An Open -House -Meet the Teachers Night
was held on Wednesday evening from 7-8:30.
It was good to see so many interested
parents.
On Wednesday, Oct. 7 we are hoping to
have a meeting at the school to discuss the
viability of a Parent/teacher group to head
up our Playground project. It is hoped that
the formation of such a group will allow us
to access the maximum amount of support
from the community in order to guarantee
the success of this project.
Victoria gets new French room
Victoria Public School held Open House on
Thursday, October L It was good to see so
tetany people in attendance.
Students and teachers put a lot of hard
,work into putting everything together for
visitors. We are really proud of our new
French room and we know Madame Hogan
will enjoy having her own spot.
Thanks to all who made our Open House a
success.
