The evening ceremony was conducted by Rev. Gerald McMillian. Audrey is the daughter of Erma and Norman Hoy, Goderich. Alex is the son of Mary Mukle and the late James Mukle, Exeter. Phyllis Hoy, Goderich, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Heather Lovie, Exeter, daughter of the groom, and Faye Barth, Goderich, friend of the bride. Cheraina Lovie, granddaughter of the groom, was flowergirl. Carlyle Mukle, Staffa, brother of thr groom, was best man. Ushers were Paul Lovie, son-in-law of the groom, and Dennis Mukle, son of the groom, both of Exeter. The bride was escorted to the alter by her sons Steven and David. Organist was Gladys Hutchins, Goderich, and special music was provided by soloist Bryon Hoy of Goderich. Following a trip -to the states of New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Washington, D.C., are residing in Clinton. Douglas Pitts officiated. Susan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Aitken, Goderich, and Hugh is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hanly, Port Albert. Matrons of honor were the bride's sisters Janet MacDonald -Kramer, Union- ville, and Deb Schneider, San Diego, California. Bridesmaids were Kathy Bedour, friend of the bride, Goderich; Cathy Oke, friend of the bride, Goderich; and, Carol Leddy, friend of the bride, London. Junior bridesmaid was Sonja Blacker, cousin of the bride, Goderich. Best man was John Hanly, brother of the groom, Sarnia. Ushers were Randy Stoddart, friend of the groom, Goderich; Mike Reynolds, friend of the groom, Goderich; Rick Leddy, freind of the groom, London; Tony Bedard, friend of the groom, London; and, Steve Arbour, friend of the groom, London. A reception was held on the lawn at "Stirlings", home of the bride's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. D.V. Blacker. Following a wedding trip to. Quebec, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hanly have taken up residence in Brussels, Ontario. (R.J. Nephew Photography) Maitland Manor resident Mary Louise Rowed dies MRS. MARY LOUISE ROWED Mrs. Mary Louise Rowed, a resident of Maitland Manor, died at Alexandra Marine 'and General Hospital Tuesday, September 29, 1987, at the age of 96. Born in Goderich Township June 21, 1891, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Templeton Salkeld and.. the former Margaret Mahala Greer. She was a member of St. George's Anglican Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank William Rowed. She was the dear aunt of Margaret and John Schmidt of Standard, "Alberta; Mary and Jim Boyle of Lucknow; Dr. Helen Salkeld of North Gore; Margaret and Howard Aitken of Goderich; Kathleen and Douglas Blacker of Goderich Township; and, Joseph Salkeld of Goderich. She was predeceased by one sister Irene ( Mrs. Roy Rundle) ; two brothers George and" Tom Salkeld; one niece Charlotte Salkeld and one nephew Lawrence Salkeld. The funeral service was held at the Mc - 1. Callum and Palla Funeral, Horne Friday, October 2 with Rev. Peter Baldwin of St. George's Anglican Church officiating. Pallbearers were Howard , Aitken, Douglas Blacker, Douglas Blacker Jr., Jim McConnell, Hugh Lane and Jim Boyle. Interment at Maitland Cemetery. BENSON C. STRAUGHAN Mr. .Benson C. (Ben) Straughan, Goderich, died at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Saturday, October 3, 1987. He was born in Benmiller April 23, 1916, the son of the late Arthur Straughan and the former Olive Cluff. He attended Benmiller Public School, graduated from Goderich District Col- legiate Inttitute and Shaws Business Col- lege in Toronto. He was secretary -treasurer of No. 12 Elementary Flying Training School - Sky Harbour (1940-43). Mr. Straughan served in the Canadian Army, Intelligence Service, Ottawa, during World War II. He farmed in Colborne Townshop (Benmiller) 1946-67. He was an accountant with A.M. Harper and Company and then macGillivray and Co. He served as chief accountant for the Huron County Board of Education 1969-75. He was Clerk -Treasurer of Colborne Township for many years and Treasurer 1975-87. He was a member of Victoria Street United Church. He was also a member and past president of Morning Star Lodge 309 A.F.&A.M. and Huron Chapter 30 R.A.M. Surviving are his wife, the former Helen Archer; two daughters Chrystal and her , husband , Gary Jewitt of Clinton, and Susanne and her husband Gord Strang of Exeter; and one son Bill and his wife Judi of Sudbury. Also surviving are two sisters, Helen ( Mrs. Kaye Dawson) of Dungannon and Bet- ty (Mrs. Orville Stanley) of Clinton. Surviv- ing grandchildren are Jennifer and Susan Jewitt, Rob, Ryan and Kelly Straughan, and Kristin Strang. Funeral and committal services were held at McCallum and Palla Funeral Home Monday, October 5 with Rev. Bruce Tombs, Victoria Street United Church, officiating. Interment at Colborne Cemetery. HAROLD FOSTER Mr. Harold Foster, Goderich, died at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Thursday, October 1 at the age of 73. Born in Hay Township June 10, 1914, he was the son of the late James Foster and the former Allots Hildebrant_ He was a restaurant owner of Kosy Korner Restaurant in Hensall as well as be- ing a member of St. George's Anglican OBITUARIES 11111111•I.®A Church. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109, Goderich, and served in the Canadian Army during World War II. ' Surviving are his ,wife, the former Mildred Florence Robbins; one son William and his wife Carol of Grand Bend; one daughter Bonnie and her husband Lewis Erb of Goderich; as well as eight grandchildrei, and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two . sisters, Marie Howe of Toronto and Jean and her husband Harry Smith of London; and one brother Ray and his wife Elizabeth of Clinton. He was predeceased by one brother Lorne Foster. The funeral service was held at the Mc- Callum and Palla Funeral Home Saturday, October 3 with Peter Baldwin of St. George's Anglican Church officiating. Tlie Royal Canadian. Legion and Ladies Aux- iliary to Branch 109, Goderich, held a memorial service on Friday evening at the. funeral home. Pallbearers were Terry Erb, Dale Erb, Craig Foster, Jim Mullenix, . Jack Taylor and Jack Bell. Interment at Maitland Cemetery. OR DR013-114`YODAY ANDREW BENSON STRAUGHAN Mr. Andrew Benson Straughan, Goderich, died at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Thursday, September 24 at the age of 87. Mr. Straughan was a former town policeman and member and former church officer at Knok Presbyterian Church. He was born in Colborne Township July 14, 1900, the son of the late James Straughan and Agnes Old. He married the former Elizabeth (Bessie) Campbell of Wingham, Ontario, June 27, 1928. Surviving besides his wife are Benson and his wife Catherine of Barrie; Martin and his wife Noreen of Goderich; Donald and his wife Lois of Goderich; Clayton and his wife Donna of St. Catherines; Bill and his wife Victoria of Barrie; Roy and his wife Irene of Goderich; John and his wife Marion of Goderich; and, David and his wife Kathie of Trout Creek. Also surviving are ' one sister-in-law Amelia 'Straughan of Goderich, and two brother -in-laws Herbert Campbell and Stuart Campbell, both of Wingham. Twenty-three grandchildren and five great- grandchildren also survive. He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters. The funeral service was held on Saturday, September 26 at the McCallum and Palla Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Jonson of Knox Presbyterian Church officiating. Flowerbearers were granddaughters Lin- da Johnston, Cynthia Straughan, Heather Straughan, Allyson Straughan and Sarah Straughan. Pallbearers were grandsons Stephen Straughan, Jim Straughan, Brian Straughan, Ken Straughan, Joe Straughan, Glenn Straughan, Cam Straughan and Andy Straughan.
