variety pick from.
. The Sailors two top scorers from last
year, Chris Sideris and Shawn Larder, will
be' returning. Sideris suffered a knee in-
jury last week in practice and his situation
-is--i inknown. -He is going_ to the Sports In-
jury Clinic in London. According". to
Larder, he said he will help the team in
any way he can until he is able to start
skatjng.
Goaltending is up in the air this year.
Randy Gaynor an outstanding goalie from
a year ago went over -age and will not
return. Phibbs said there are four goalies
in camp.
Phibbs has to trim his roster to 20-25
players before the season opens. He said
some players --midgets and those just out
for the ice time -have cut themselves. •
The reason Phibbs is cautious is because
he won't know how his team performs until
they get a -chance to play a .few_games.
"With Jr. C and D you never know what
kind of team you have until they hit the
Ace," said Larder.
The Sailors open their exhibition
schedule Friday at home to Wingham at
8:30.
Wingham is a team that has lost a
number of good players and the game
should be a good indicator for both teams.
Goderich then plays Wingham in
Wingham on the 27th. They host Thedford
on September 28 at 7:30, travel to Thedford
on the 29th, and round out the exhibition
season at home to Mount Forest on Oct 2 at
8:30.
Hanover is still considered the class of
the six team league that includes,:. Port
Elgin, Mount Forest, Wingham, Goderich
and Walkerton.
Sailors open the regular season at home
against Mount Forest on Oct. 9 at 8:30.
They will get their fist test against
Hanover Oct. 23 at home at 8:30.
