THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1 - The Fall Ses-
sion of the MacKay Choristers begins at the
MacKay Centre for Seniors from 9:30 to 11
a.m. All people who like to sing and are 55
years or older are invited to attend.
Registration fee of $10 and purchase of
uniform are the only requirements.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 -
Kingsbridge Playschool will begin Tuesday,
Sept. 29 from 9:30 to 11:20 a.m. All pre-

terested in hearing the other side of the
abortion story? All students and adults are
invited to listen to Beverly Hadland as she
shares her personal experiences of having
two abortions. She is now Director of the
Ontario Region of the Abortion Outreach

General Meeting of the Goderich Lawn
Bowling Club will be held on Oct. 2 at 6:30
p.rn. with a potluck supper. All members
are asked to be present to express their
views and opinions oh various matters. A
fee of $1 is requested to cover sundries for
this meeting.

on "Suicide Prevention and Survivor's
Grief", Helping Those At Risk. What helps?
What hurts?, will be held at the Maitland
Country Club, Goderich, from 8:30 a.m. to
3:30 p.m. Registration fee is $40 (includes
lunch, coffee break and materials). The.
seminar is of interest to all in the health and
educational fields, clergy, police, funeral
directors, the media and all concerned.

FALL SQUARE DANCING - Fall square
dancing starts on Oct. 1, 1987. Huron -Bruce
Swingers Square Dance Club's fall dancing
starts Oct. 1 at Brookside School. A special
addition to our regular square dancing this
year will be a series of lessons for beginners
from 7:30-8:30 p.m. every Thursday for 10
weeks, also starting Oct. 1 We are fortunate
to have one of the best callers in Western
Ontario - Lorne Lockrey. Huron -Bruce Sw-
ingers holds regular dances every Thursday
throughout the year from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m.
from Oct. 1 to the end of April. Square danc-
ing is an activity that can be enjoyed by all
age groups. It's fun, it's good exercise and a
great way to meet new friends. If you have
never square danced before but would like
to try it - come out and try our lessons. If
you have done modern square dancing
before and would like to get hack at it, come

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 - You

ship information meeting of the Christian
Farmers Association of Central Huron on
Wednesday, September 23 at 8 p.m. in the
Boardroom, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture
and Food Building in Clinton. The topic for
discussion is 'Animal Rights' and will be
presented by one of the veterinarians of the
Goderich Veterinary Clinic. Nominations
are also needed for two board positions.

Free poetry contest held
FREE POETRY CONTEST
The World of Poetry is offering a $1,000
grand prize in its New American Poetry
Contest. Some 200 prizes are being offered
worth over $16,000. There is no entry fee.
Poets may enter one poem only, 21 lines
or less, on any subject, using any style.
Deadline for entering is Oct. 15, 1987. Win-
ners will be notified on or before Dec. 15,
1987. in plenty of time for Christmas. A
winner's list will be sent to all entrants.
World of Poetry reserves the right to
publish the winning poem.

For an)evening of comedy, music and
sales pitches against nuclear war, in-
terested persons should see "Bossin's
Home Remedy For Nuclear War," a one-
night -only performance to be held at Blyth
Memorial Hall, October 15th at 8 pm.
Bossin's Home Remedy for Nuclear
War, sponsored by Women Today and the
Huron County Medical Society, is written
and performed by Bob Bossin. He is well-
known across the country as the leader of
Canada's premiere folk group "String -
band," and is widely acknowledged as one
of Canada's foremost songwriters.
The show is the hit Canadian musical
that has toured the country from the Queen
Charlottes to Cape Breton.
"It's an old-style musical medicine show
that dispenses a snake -oil cure that is two -
parts comedy, two parts of disarming
political theatre and a liberal dose of cat-
chy songwriting," reported the Vancouver
Sun prior to Bossin's performance at the
Vancouver East Cultural Centre.
Throughout the show, the audience will
witness jokes and songs aimed at politi-
cians, the imitation of a U.S. military
general, a Soviet and an impersonation of
Ronald Reagan.
Tickets for the show are $8 advance, $10
door, $5 students and $15 dinner and show.

countries around the world.
The participants attend high school
abroad, and are hosted by a loving and

• Interculture Canada will accept 185
students. The candidates will be evaluated
on their academic abilities, and most im-
portant, on their general personality and
interpersonal skills. The participants will
possess, among others, flexibility, self-
confidence, open-mindedness, and the
ability to meet the various challenges of an
intercultural experience.
Participation fees for Interculture
Canada programs are not much more than
what it would cost,to have a teenager live
at home for a year. Financial assistance is
available to disadvantaged families.
Students interested in obtaining more in-
formation about Interculture Canada pro-

Departure is in winter or summer, depen-
ding on the choice of country. Final ap-
plications must reach the National Office
by October 30 for winter departure, and
November 30th for summer departure.
