Rev. Robert Ball, of North Street United Church, was named the President with the Rev. Gerry McMillan of Bethel Pentecostal as Secretary and Captain Walter Clarke of the SarVation Army as Treasurer. The Ministerial Association meets mon- thly throughout the year and seeks to serve the community through special services to the Hospital, Maitland Manor, as well as the Minister's Study column in the Signal -Star. Several ministers also assist in a teaching program with the grade 8 classes of Robert- son School. From time to time., the Ministerial Association is called upon to officiate in community civic events, holding special ecumenical worship services. A special welcome was extended to the several new members rif the clergy by past president Rev. Gil Kidd, and self - introduction by each new clergy person were shared. Groups in the community seeking support in their concerns in the life of the people of Goderich, will find an open ear through the Toronto site of trade fair From September 23 - 27, over 900 enter- tainers and buyers from performing arts facilities and community groups will gather at Toronto's Constellation Hotel for Contact '87, Canada's largest annual touring trade fair. Funded and administered since 1971 through the Touring Office of the Ontario Arts Council, Ontario Contact brings together professional performers with potential bookers from more than 250 com- munities across the province - community volunteer sponsors, university and facility programmers, Boards of Education and regional arts councils. „This year's Contact will showcase 44 live presentations for both young and adult au- diences, ranging from classical to contem- porary dance; from classical to jazz, folk and contemporary music; to theatre, pup- petry and opera. The program includes per- formances by: Tafelmusik (just back from a successful European tour); Popera, a musical theatre revue with Patrick Rose, Diane Stapley and Riki Turofsky; Gina Lori Riley Dance Enterprises; 0 Vertigo Danse with Jean A. This year for the first time Contact is ex- tended one day to present special showcase performances by chamber ensembles. This takes place on September 23 and features performances by York. Winds, Canadian Piano Trio, Sylvie Proulx, Music From Sharon, Jamie Parker and Coucous Benevoles. In addition, during Contact, over 200 ar- tists and their managers promote their ac- tivities through exhibitions and video presentations to interested buyers in the "Contact Room". Workshops and seminars for both sponsors and artists on programm- ing, management and marketing are also part of the five day event. It is now estimated that in a given year, 68 percent of the live, professional entertain- ment circuit in the province is chosen by On- tario sponsors through Ontario Contact, generating an estimated 1•,500 performances - and an economic benefit to artists and On- tario communities of over $3.5.million. Such concerns should be directed either to the president or secretary, in order to be scheduled on the agenda of our gatherings. Crieff Hills Community visited by Knox member Crieff Hills Community, a retreat and con- ference centre for Presbyterian Church members in Canada, was visited by 25 members of Knox Church, Goderich last Sunday. . The group enjoyed a tour of the existing facilities at the 250 acre centre, donated to 'the church by Colonel McLean, founder of McLean Hunter Publishing. They were very interested to learn of the vibrant utilization of the existing, facilities and of the ambitious plan to build a new central conference building costing $2,250,000. A fund raising project will soon be underway. A beautiful church supper was enjoyed by all.
