`Peace' topic at Nile UCW
September meeting recently
Nile UCW members met at the home of
Shirley Dustow for their September
Meeting. Hostesses Shirley and Phyllis
Scott served a delicious dessert to the 11
members and two guests.
Mrs. Bessie McNee was in charge of the
program and began with an autumn reading
called Harvest of Gold and the scripture
Psalm 67, a Thanksgiving Psalm. Her topic
concerned Peace. "Love your enemies"
.Jesus said, but we know this statement is
hard to live by and Bessie's reading explain-
ed that this could be possible. She told of the
effects the threat of war is having on
children and that peace and justice are not
two different things. We are not to be
discouraged. Also, Canada, is one of the top
contributing countries to those people
needing help, whether in our own country or
other countries such as Ethiopia. Shirley
Dustow presided at the piano for the singing
of the hymns.
The ladies were reminded of the 137th an-
niversary service at Nile church, Sept. 20 at
11 with a former minister, George Cowan,
as the guest speaker and fellowship and
lunch to follow.
UCW pens can now be purchased from
treasurer Yvonne Pentland.
