BIRTHDAY CLUB
Hi,
My name is Kyle Hamilton. I will be three -
years -old Tuesday, September 15. I'm hav-
ing a party at McDonald's with my friends
Amanada and fan Dekker and all my
cousins. I live at 6 Delbar Court with my dad
and mom ( Graham and Barb ).
Bye,
Kyle
P.S. Hi Joyce and Pat!
Volunteering your time can help
the Heart and Stroke Foundation
Did you know that heart disease and
stroke kill more Canadians than all other
diseases put together?
Are you aware that through research and
education, progress in this area is more
significant than 'developments with any
other major disease?
Each year, 20,000 Canadians survive who
would not survived only 25 years ago when
afflicted with this disease.. • .
The Huron Chapter of the Heart and
Stroke Foundation were able to contribute
$56,5.98 in donations collected from the
counts a whole. The town of Goderich
generoly_donated $9,738.72. The nearby
townships , jointly contributed $7,194.60.
These contributions. would not have been
possible without all the dedicated volunteers
that are associated in so many capacities in
Huron County with the Heart and Stroke
Foundation.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation Chapter
in Huron consists of 12 board members
elected each October at their annual
meeting for a one-year term. There are
many responsible positions held by
volunteers such as campaign chairperson,
secretary for the canvass done in February"
as well as the chapter's treasurer and
secretary. There are possibly 700
volunteers that contribute over the year in
one way or another because they dedicate
themselves to a task that is suitable to their
skills, expertise and available. time. The
chapter likes to create a suitable position for
each volunteer that will interest them and
bring them personal satisfaction. They

believe in the philosophy that many hands
enables the task to be completed quickly
and easier than too few.
To continue the fight against the deadly
disease, it will always require volunteer
suppor-t. — Take_ a minute,- -and . remind_
yourself that there are very few families in
Canada that have not been affected by this
disease. Then, take another miputer and
decide what you can do to help. There are
numerous tasks that don't require a lot of
your time that must be completed, and there
are some very interesting, educational posi-
tions you might be willing to contribute your
skills and expertise to. Your contribution
can make a difference. Take a moment and
call Joan Van den Broek,co-ordinator for
the Huron County Chapter at 524-4440.
I did. Last year I filled the position fo Ariea
1 chairperson and it was an educational and
very satisfying position. I fully intend to
donate my time•again for the 1988 February.
Canvass in hopes that my contribution will
make a difference.
I encourage everyone to do the same.
Together we can fight heart disease and
give the gift of life to our children.
