With 11 couples competing, the winners were Fred Looker and Pat Stringer, John Kane and Edna Looker, Murray McGill and Ardith Brissette and John Stringer and Lois McGill. Men's Night, Aug. 31, was played in cool windy weather, but 42 men came out for the fun. Bill Hanley took top spot, winning first low net. Other winners were: Mike Sully, Jack Hinton, Bill King and Percy Garrick. Tuesday, Sept. 1, had 27 ladies out for Ladies' Night. Every week the ladies have two different scorers so everyone learns how and no one gets stuck with the job. Winners in the first flight were: Maxine Martin, low gross; Verna Kane, low net ajid Marie Huff with lowest number of putts. Bess Smith, Edna Looker and Mary Lapaine took low gross, low net and put- ting prizes respectively in second flight. In third fight, Jean Hanley, Jean Knight and Grace Nevelle finished in the same order, while in fourth flight, Chris Hoffmeyer took low gross, Kay Duncan second low gross, Pauline McKeller low net, Pat Tyn- dall second low net, and Lynn Edward; lowest number of putts. • On Wednesday Maitland ladies hosted the Owen Sound District Tournament with golfers arriving from Sunset, Kincardine, Markdale, Hanover, Seaforth, Wingham, Port Elgin, Owen Sound, Meaford and Walkerton. With 76 entries, good planning and good weather meant everything went off without a hitch. Judy Hunter of Kincardine shot a 87 at the Maitland to become the Owen Sound District Champion, Wednesday. Isabelle Salisbury from with a 92. Maitland and Sunset ladies who won prizes were Vera Kane, Marie Huff, Della Bedard, Chris Reeves, Shirley Baechler, Jea I— McDeugall-, - Mary Lynn T-elfer&,- -Ellen Connelly, and .Marylin Cornish. The Sunset team of Ellen Connelly, Joan McDougall and Della Bedard.. won the team prize. Marg Knowlton of Kincardine wrapped up the Seniors prize after a playoff with Isabelle Salisbury and Marion Darling scored.for the "Diamond Lil's." The Juniors had their wind-up on Thurs- day with a good number participating. Corey Haylow took low gross with Jeff Beange and Tim Harrison tying for second low gross, while Ken Strong was third. First, second, and third low net were won, by Andrew Scott, Dwane Leddy and Ryan Farris.
