Many events planned to mark
Legion Week, Sept. 13 to 19
"Exercise ('lose -Up", a seven-day series
ul Guder'ich Legion Branch 109 events to
mark Legion Week this year will be con-
ducted by Branch 109 from Sunday,
September 13 to Saturday, September 19.
The Legion Week committee chaired by
first vice-president Stan Profit plans to give
rnernbers of the Branch and he community a
close-up view of the workings of a typical
Legion branch.
The initial event will be a Decoration Day,
a memorial service whcih remembers all
those veterans who served Canada in times
of w•at and peace.
This service will be held at the veteran's
plot of the Maitland cemetery on Sunday,
September 13 at 2 p.rn. Legion members
and any other veterans are requested to be
at the rear of the cemetery by 1:30 p.m.
when the parade will form up. Dresss is
beret and medals l if available). A specail
invitiation is extended to our associate and
Auxiliary members to parade with the
veterans. Seating at the vet's plot will be
available and all members of the communi-
ty -are most welcome to attend this short ser-
vice of Remembrance. A bus will leave the
Legion hall at 1:15 p.m. for all those who
lack transportation to and from the
Maitland cemetery.
Six other events will take place at Branch
109 during Legion Week. On Tuesday,
September 15 a Senior's Euchre party,
chaired by comrade G. McRae, will be held
in the Virpy Lounge on the main floor of the

On Wednesday, the branch Will hold a
Noon Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.in.
upstairs in the Jubilee room, which is easily
accessible by elevator. Price of this lunch .s
$2.50. Also the -branch mini rrruseunl, which
is located off the Virny Lounge, will be open
for your inspection from noon till 2:30 p.rn.
The regular Thursday night mixed euchre
party will be held in the Vimy Lounge on
September 17 at 8 p.m. On Friday, noon till
2 p.m. the poor man's lunch will be available
in the Legion canteen.
A free Kiddies Cartoon Show conducted by
comrade Dave Parks will he held in the
Vimy Lounge on Saturday, September 19
from 2 to 4 p.m. All children and their
parents are invited to this cartoon show and
share the free pop and popcorn.
On Saturday night, from 9 p.m. omn,
everyone'is welcome to come out and catc-h
the action at the free Legion Week Dance
with "Cool Energy" in the Vimy Lounge.
Come early and get a good seat.

Assistive devices for
isabled long awaited
-The Ontario March of Dimes is
delighted by the Ontario government's an-
nouncement today expanding the assistive
. devices program," said David Logan,
President of the Ontario March of Dimes.

With allied consumer groups and agencies,
has been asking successive Ontario
governments to expand the assistive
devices program to adults 'with
• disabilities.
Many adults with physical disabilities
now face critical delays in obtaining such
essential equipment as wheelchairs and
braces. Those without sufficient funds to
pay for these devices, must rely on charity
or- try to penetrate' the labyrinth of dif-
ferent government programs. Disabled
youths up to•23 have are now provided witli
75 per cent of the funding for these devices
'ay -are -Ontario ivrinistry of Health.
"Today's announcement came during an
Ontario March of Dimes board meeting
precisely at the point at which we were
discussing the stresses on our tight
assistive devices program budget.

If you are a Registered Nurse who has been away from active
practice. our recently revised Registered Nurse - Refresher
Program will provide You with up-to-date nursing skills and
knowledge in order to re-enter the work setting as a beginning
1 rac'titioner.
'Hie Registered Nurse - Refresher Program is being offered
at our Stratford Campus conmiencing October 19. 1987. The pro-
gram consists of four courses which are conducted on a part-time
basis and 170 hours of supervised clinical practice in a medical -
surgical active care setting. Begin the program 011 October 19.
1987 and you can expect to complete by Spring. 1988. The fee
for thc' program is $'127. The cost of textbooks is extras.
For more information or to obtain an application package. please
contact the Clinton Continuing Education Office between
the hours of 12 noon and 8 p.m., Monday through Thurs-
day, and 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Friday.
