The re -scheduled Family Fun flay, spon-
sored by the Dungannon Agricultural
Society, drew a great crowd on Sunday,
August 23, with the rain holding off long
enough to allow completion of both the
horse and antique tractor pulls.
A total of 10 teams of horses pulled in the
corral at the fairgrounds.
Two teams entered the Light Horse
Teal) c•lass,.where the team weight could
not :xceed 3300 Ib., without harness. Bob
Lampman's team of Belgians, weighing
3190 lb., were able to out pull Bob
McLachlan's 31021b., team of Percherons.
Lampman is from Southwold and
McLachlan lives at RR 3, Kippen.
The eight heavy horse teams placed in
the following order: 1. Lorne Birk, RR 2,
Palmerston - Percherons; 2. Gary Kerr,
RR 6, Goderich - Belgians; 3. Ross Young,
RR 2, Tiverton - Belgians; 4. Arnold
Young, RR 5, Goderich - Belgians; 5.

tique Tractor Pull. Tractors had to be 1958
or older by production series. Four
trophies were presented in each weight
class.

In the Special Antique class, for tractors
from 1935 or older, Barry Smyth, from
Lucknow, won with a 1930 McCormick
Deering while Mike Pentland, RR, 1,
Dungannon, placed second with a 1926 Mc-
Cormick Deering.
With rain threatening, the crowd left
quickly but approximately 150 people en-
joyed the ham and salad smorgasbord,
served in the hall.
