Dear Editor:
Shrugging hands Pierre has made the
front page again. is it because of a guilty
conscience? It's quite obvious to me that
there are many parts of the Constitution
that are not explicit enough, and the wor-
ding leaves much to be desired.
For an individual who has had as much
experience in legal matters as he has, 1
believe that he is disputing now because of
a guilty conscience. When the judges of the
court have trouble internretinR thn r'^n-

stitution, there's something rotten in Den-
mark somewhere.

Dear Editor:
The election is almost here and now is
the time to assess our politicians. You may
recall that last December Jack Riddell
voted and canvassed for Bill 7, the law that
forces us to accept practising homosexuals
into our schools, work places, etc. If you
agree that Bill 7 is a bad law in this regard,
then I would urge you to vote for some one
else. •
Jack is perhaps the best Agricultural
Student to
study at
B.C. university
Heidi Hoernig 17, of Goderich will spend
the next two years studying at the Lester
B. Pearson College of the Pacific on Van-
couver Island.
She is one of seven Ontario students
selected to attend a United World College
by the UWC selection committee. Heidi is
a grade 12 student at Goderich District
Collegiate Institute.
The Ontario Ministry of Education will
provide approximately $20,000 toward the
cost of her studies. Each of the United
World Colleges accepts only 100 new
students , a year. All are scholarship
students and come from 59 countries of the
world.
Provisions for
disabled voters
Special provisions in voting procedures
provide support for physically disabled,
visually impaired and elderly electors who
might otherwise be unable to Cast their
ballots in Ontario's 34th provincial general
election.
Qualified electors who are unable to at-
tend .a polling place because of illness or
physical disability have options other than
voting on election day. They may either cast
a ballot at an advance poll; or vote by proxy.
Designated advance polls, which provide
level access or ramps to accommodate
disabled or elderly electors, are scheduled
for September 3, 5 and 7.
Proxy voting is an option for electors who
for medical reasons are physically in-
capable of attending a polling place. This
permits such an elector to authorize another
elector. residing in the same electoral
district to vote on his or her behalf.
Proxy application forms may be obtained
from any Elections Ontario office but they
must be certified by the returning officer in
the electoral district where the elector
resides. The application form will be ex-
changed for a certificate to vote which the'
proxy voter must present at the polling
place in order to receive a ballot and vote.
The'person acting as proxy must be eligi-
ble elector residing in the same electoral
district and may not act for more than two
electors.
Visually impaired electors may have a
friend or one of the poll officials read the
candidates' names in the order they appear
on the ballot.
'To enable these electors to align their
ballots face up, a small notch has been cut
into the edge of the upper right-hand corner
of the ballot. Ontario election ballots are
printed with the candidates' names appear-
ing alphabetically down the left side with a
circle to the right of each name for the elec-
tor to indicate his or her choice. A notch has
also been cut out beside each white circle.
In accordance with the Ontario Election
Act, the deputy returning officer may assist
such electors in marking their ballot. A pro-
vision in the election legislation also allows
a friend - under oath - of a visually impaired
or disabled elector to assist the elector and
accompany that person through the voting
process. '
Minister we have had for some time, and
because of this he will no doubt be re-
elected. However, please consider voting
for some one else, as a reduced majority
would give Jack the message that a lot of
us out here still treasure the moral values
we inherited from our parents.
Yours sincerely,
Peter Edisbury

cannot assume more responsibility for
their actions, they never will.
Centralized control from Ottawa was
alright in the beginning, because the pro-
vinces at that time were not sufficiently
developed for total self-government.
"The Finger," seems, to_infer that the
population of Canada is mentally incunipe-
tent. The only one who's gifted with logic
and reasons is him. There.never was any
conceit in his family because he's got it all.
I believe he's the type of individual who
will coerce his family, after they're grown
up, with the threat that if they don't do
what he tells them, he will disinherit then.
I hope someone sends him a miniature
mint, to amuse himself, and a yo-yo to re-
mind him what he did to the Canadian
dollar, hoping this will keep him out of the
public's hair for awhile. Many farmers are
still suffering from the inflationary spiral
that the "Finger" created.
Canada has outpriced itsel&in the world
market.
Sincerely,
N. J. Minaker
