Go4ettes take Hanover tourney

The Go-4-ettes of the Ladies Slow Pitch
League defeated Grey -Bruce 16-12 to win
the A division at the annual Hanover
Barons Slow Pitch Tournament in
Hanover on the weekend.
Debbie Ciarance was named MVP,
leading a strong hitting team– they scored
68 runs in their four games.
Go-4-ettes, the only Goderich team, beat
London -Oakridge team 15-3 in the semis,
hammered previously unbeaten Chepstow,
24-1 and defeated the Riviera Raiders froni
Durham 13-0 in their other games.
Colleen MacGregor hit a grand slap) in
the tournament to round -out a good team
effort.
The win gives the Go-4-ettes a berth in
the provincial slow pitch tournament in
Niagara Falls September 12.. The week-
long event features 58 tournament winning
teams from all over Ontario in six divi-
sions and $5,400 in prizes. Goderich
Oldtimes and Sifto are also in the tourney.

Memorial
that ever lived.
The ninth annual Ron Feagan Memorial
Pace features a field of six competitive
pacers. The race features three locally
owned pacers. Linlor Rodger is owned by
Holmesville Valley Farms. The six year
old horse has won 30 races and has made
over $39,000 Lifetime. D.A. Dariel is owned
by Dennis Jewitt of Seaforth. D.A. Dariel
posted a lifetime mark of 2:002 at Clinton
Raceway, only two .weeks ago. Ferric
Scram is owned by Mel Dickson of
Goderich. The five year old gelding has a
1987 mark of 2:024. The other pacers in the
race are: Johnny Dallas who has posted
two wins in a row at 'Clinton Raceway;
Kawartha Trump who has a lifetime mark
of 1.571; and G.M. Chip who fastest mile in
1987 was in 2013.

On Thursday, August 27, 1987 Goderich
Raceway will host the Ron Feagan
Memorial Pace. This pace is dedicated to a
roan who started his career as a youngster
on Goderich Raceway and who went on to
become a giant in his sport and profession -
a member of the Canadian Harness Hall of
Fame,. A brief survey of the highlights of
his career indicate that as a horseman,
Ron Feagan was one of the• best. His
career achievements include a number of
firsts. He was the first Canadian driver to
win $500,000 in purse earnings in a single
season; he was the youngest driver to
drive a two minute mile; he was the 'first
Canadian driver to win 200 races in a
single season. Other career achievements
of Ron Feagan include: eleven consecutive
seasons of averaging 200 wins; 24 times

leading money winner on the O.J.C. cir-
cuit; and Canada's horseman of the year
in 1965.
Feagan was also owner, trainer and
driver of H.A. Meadowland - the winner of
the Canadian Pacing Derby in 1966. When
Ron Feagan died in January 1979 at the
age of thirty-six, he had amassed 3,036
career wins and 6.6 million in career purse
earnings. Ron Feagan's career record sets
him apart as one of the best race drivers
