Nico Peters, Progressive Conservative candidate for Huron, brought his family along for
the official opening of his Goderich office on Huron Rd. (formerly Ron's Shell). Peters urg-
ed his supporters to believe in a victory and pledged to make Huron Progressive Conser-
vative again. He offered support for farmers and a chance for business growth in Huron.

useless. The boat grounded out and 10 -foot
Seas were piling over us."
MacDonald had been in constant contact
with Coast Guard units in Sarnia and Port
Huron, Mi. and it wasn't 'until late Satur-
day night that he issued the mayday.
"They sent a helicopter and a cutter but
the seas were too heavy for the cutter to
get nearus and they hovered way. out-
side," he explained. "The Forest OPP lin-
ed us up ori the shore so the helicopter
could pinpoint our location. At.2 a.m. they
picked us up and dropped us at the base in
Ipperwash."
A lifelong sailor, MacDonald said there
was no reason to panic during the ordeal,
'explaining the only real danger was being
washed overboard.
"There was no panic. It wasjust a case
of hanging on," he said. "I have sailed all
my life but have never seen anything like
from lake
it. Everything just went wrong, and we
were helpless."
With life rings and belts on board, Mac-
Donald said the group was prepared, to
float to shore. "We were about a half mile
off shore and the sea would have carried us
in with no problem," he said.
With the aid of Donald Bert MacNam,
MacDonald expected to salvage the boat
this week, when the weather co-operated.
"It's a steel hull so I don't anticipate too
much damage."
The experience has not dented Mac -
Donald's enthusiasm for the water or
sailing.
"I wasn't really concerned until we lost
both the engine and steering. We just went
through a number of bad things," he said.
MacDonald commended both the Coast
Guard units and police for their assistance
and quick response.

'Harbour hill to Wellington Street.
A draft proposal for the 1988 road pro-
gram for the Town of Goderich .was ap-
proved by the Works and Property Com-
mittee at their Aug. 11 meeting and receiv-
ed by town council oh Aug. 17.
The total cost of proposed projects is
$327,000.
The committee's intention was original-
ly to do neccessary work on roads in the
vicinity of the Huron County Pioneer
MuSeum in time for the scheduled opening
of the new museum renovations in 1989.
However, since it appears the new part of
the museum will now open in 1988, the
committee has readjusted its priorities
accordingly.
The following streets and projects were
set as priorities for 1988, on the understan-
ding the priorities will be reviewed prior to
the setting of the budget:
