Deep Terry Fox's dream alive
• from page 7A
The Canadian Cancer Society en-
courages anyone to organize any kind of
fund raising idea. One of the best ideas in
1986 combined the talents of the Vancouver
Symphony Orchestra, the B.C. Lions
Cheerleaders and a group of belly dancers.
The three steps to organizing a Terry
Fox 'Run special event are: prepare a
description of event or activity and method
of collecting funds; contact the Terry Fox
Run office at 1416 ) 488-1480; have fun.
If you have any questions concerning the
run contact Debbie McPhee at 524-2900 call
anytime.
Spoonerisms: 1 will be running (*walking I
in this year's event and if you wish to spon-
sor me call 524-2614 at the Signal -Star.
The cliche 'dead' in the water' has been
used often recently. It was used to
describe the Montreal Expos I before they
started winning 1, to descibe Larry
Grossman's campaign and anyone who
goes white -water rafting.
Ranchers lead 'C' division
in men's slow pitch action
BY BREWSTER
The Lakeview Ranchers, a new team to
our league this year, under the very
capable leadership of Jake Martel and
Mike Pitre, were in fine form this week as
they won three games to move into first
place. On Sunday, they scored eight in the
fourth and held on to edge the BBs by a 9-7
margin. On Monday they upset Little Bowl
6-2 and on Thursday, blasted Murphys 23-8
in five. Richard Moore went 4 for 4 in-
cluding a home run and six RBIs to lead
the way.
In other (.' scores, Murphys Law ham-
mered Shanahans 19-8, BBs blasted the

B Division is still the place to be if you
want exciting and unpredictable games.

Sifto Local 16 by a 12-2 score and the Chiefs
edged Parkhouse 10-6. Elevators scored

As the standings reveal, B division could
be a real mess to sort out by the end of the
round. With everyone beating everyone,
we could end up with one of those "dread-
ed" circular ties that would have to be set-
tled in a mini round robin on a Saturday!
And then it would likely rain!
.Canadian Tire remains the surprise in A
division as they continued in their bid to
prove that predictions don't mean a thing.
On Sunday they easily handled Sunys in a
14-6 victory but late in the week, had an
even easier time as they coasted to a 9-2
victory over the Bulldogs. Ideal Supply
also had a taste of revenge aS they mauled
the Bulldogs 16-6, Boyes Transport finally
put it .. together with an 8-5 win over
Thruway and in the final encounter, the
hot Coyote team clawed Sunys 19-3.
