Pig Tales is a small independent children's book company with a selection of books that are for children from birth to 12 years of age. Pig stands for Parents In- volved in Growth. According to area consultant Joanne Drennan, Pig Tales vary from other children's books because of their inexpen- sive prices, ranging from 99 cents to $10, and because they are sold in ;a home en- vironment. Pig Tales books are selected for their content, educational value, and interest to particular age levels by an On- tario certified teacher. Eliot, one of the true giants of English literature. I have reserved exclusive production rights to this play for the past two years for precisely that reason. "Also, with our current season, we com- plete the first 35 years of Stratford Festival history. In 1988, we will begin our second 35 years with Richard III and All's Well That Ends Well, the two Shakespearean plays that, in 1953, launched this remarkable enterprise that is the Stratford Festival." She personally selects first quality books from publishers "end of the lines" or "over -runs." Because the books aren't available in sufficient quanti- ty for publishers to distribute profitably, she can purchase books at a reduced rate and sell them at an affordable price. These books are sold by people like Drennan, Goderich area's consultant. Currently, there are 50 people in the organization. By hosting a home party, the hostess is allowed to choose one book for free and receives a discount on her other pur- chases. "I was impressed with the quality and I took it on as a hobby," she said, adding that she is the only consultant in this area.
