The Honourable Harvie Andre, Minister responsible for Canada Post, tabled the report in the House of Commons June 26. Canada Post's loss from operations, which was in the $600 million range in 1981, now stands at a record low of $129 million. The Annual Report also shows that while the corporation had planned to reduce its loss from operations from $210 million in 1985-86 to $132 million during the fiscal year ended March 31 of this year, it actual- ly was lower by $3 million. The continued growth in mail volume, reflected in nearly all services and pro- ducts, is the most relevant indicator of the success of Canada Post's efforts to provide reliable service at a reasonable cost to the user. With record-setting accomplishments in the past fiscal year, as revealed in its An- nual Report, Canada Post 'is now moving closer to its target of reaching operating breakeven in 1988-89. 32 Years Old - Aug. 7 Creeping Up There "SCOOTER MAY" Mohring HAPPY BIRTHDAY MONDAY, AUGUST 24 Goderich Raceway 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the Gate Adults $5.00 Children under 12 $3.00 Sponsored by the Goderich Police Association *************** * * * * * * *. P Goderich, Ontario' •: o •• challenging David Peterson, Larry Grossman and Bob Rae to come up with solutions to this and other issues affecting people with disabilities, theirfamilies and friends. One in four persons in Ontario is disabled and one in 10 Ontarians has a physical disability. To focus attention on issues important to disabled persons, the Ontario March of Dimes has- prepared a list of questions. .-focusing on equity in assistive devices, employment, independent living and transportation. The deadline for leaders of the provincial parties to respond to these questions is August 15. The results of the survey will be available to the public shortly after that date in order that disability related issues receive the broadest possible coverage before voters with disabilities head to the first advance polls. In the last provincial election, people with disabilities mobilized in 80 per cent of the ridings in order to focus attention on issues important to people with disabilities. Sup- porters of the Ontario March'of Dimes airn to raise that percentage during the cam- paign period, to ensure that disability issues are in the forefront in their communities.
