Ellwood Murray dies at 67
•ELLWOOD LAWRENCE MURRAY
Mr. Ellwood Lawrence Murray, of
Goderieh, died at his residence Sunday,
July 19, 1987. He was 67 -years -o141.
Born in Port Albert on August 6, 1919, he
was the son of the late Walker Murray and
the former Bertha Brown. His wife, the'
former Stella McNenly, predeceased him.
Mr. Murray worked as 'a maintenance
worker with 'Tip Top Tailors until his
retirement. He was a member of the
Anglican Church.
Surviving are three sisters: Ruth 1 Mrs.
Wm. 'Taman) of Huronview, Norma ( Mrs.
Joseph Lukomski) of Jerome, Michigan,.
and Rose Bowler ) Mrs..John Austin) of
Kingsbridge: and one brother, Arthur of
Sardis, B.C.
He was predeceased by four sisters Reta
Scrimgeour, Pamela Stevenson, Edna Mc-
Cabe and Vesta Catlin:. and one brother,
Benson Murray. •
The funeral service was held at the Mc-
Callum and Palla Funeral Horne on
Wednesday, .July 22 with Rev. Douglas
Pitts of the Anglican Church officiating.
Pallbearers were James Bowler, Art
Bowler, John Joe Bowler, Dean Bowler,
Murray Bowler and Elwood Bowler.
Interment in Christ Church Cemetery,
Port Albert.,
STEPHANIE ALISSA FOWLER
Miss Stephanie Alissa Fowler of
Goderich died in the Children's Hospital of
Western Ontario, London, on Sunday, July
26 at the age of four months.
She was born on March 14 and is the
daughter of John Dennis Clark Fowler of
Goderich and the former Evelyn deGraff.
Surviving are sisters, Candace and
Amanda; both at home and brothers Brent
and Brad both of Goderieh. ,
.Also surviving are "grandparents Stan
and ,Jean Fowler of Goderich; Peter and
Dorothy deGraaf of RR 3 Auburn; great
grandparents 'I'jitske deGraaf of
Netherland and David Vanderlei of
Brampton. Also surviving are several `
aunts a.nd uncles.
A funeral service was held at McCallum
and Palla Funeral Home on Wednesday,
,July 29 with Reverend Bruce Toombs from
Victoria Street United Church officiating.
Pallbearers were Brent Fowler; Brad
Fowler, ' Jim Richardson and Steve
Hansma.

William Elmer Burton. of Isabella Street,
Seaforth and formerly of Simcoe and
Orillia, died Thursday, July :30, 1987 at the
Seaforth Community Hospital.

ton was a son of the late Alfred Burton and
the•forrner Rebecca Anderson.
He was a veteran of the Second World
War and retired to Seaforth one year ago
from Simcoe county.
He is survived by his wife, the former
'Margaret Small; three daughters, Rebecca
( Mrs. John Kindree) of Granton, Susan
( Mrs. John Ellif) of Princeton and
Catherine Wilson of Mississauga; and one
son Wayne of Toronto.
Also surviving are three sisters, Gladys
Sharrum, Lillian Sharlow and Pauline
Kiistner, all of Alberta and five
grandchildren. .
Mr. Burton was predeceased by three
brothers and three sisters.
Friends and relatives were . received at
the Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, 87
Goderich Street West, Seaforth .until Mon-
day at 2 p.m; when a funeral service was
held, followed by cremation. Interment of
ashes at Egmondville Cemetery.
BENSON BELGIUM (BEN) BROWN •
Benson Belgium (Ben) Brown of RR 6
Goderich died' Tuesday, July 28 at St.
Joseph's Hospital, London at the age of 70.
Born in Ashfield Township on March 4,
1917, he was a retired self employed
carpenter. He was the son of the late
William Brown and the former Maude
' Young of Ashfield Township.
He was predeceased by his sister Allie
and four brothers Albert, .James,..John and
Charles.
Surviving are his wife, the former
.Jeanne Reed and children Shirley ( Mrs.
Ross Andrews) of Auburn; Evelyn I Mrs.
Ross Daerl of Auburn; William B. (Sam )
of RR 6, Goderich; Barry of Ric 6, Allan of
RR 5, and Douglas of RR 6 Goderich.
Also surviving are brother William A.
Brown of RR 6 Goderich and 19„grand-
children and three great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at McCallum
and Palla Funeral Home on Friday, July
31 with Byron Nevin of the Presbyterian
Church officiating.
Flower Bearers were Ray Brown, Frank
Doherty, Gary Sproul, Eugene McGee and
Allister Nivins.
Pall bearers were sons Sam Brown.
Barry Brown, Allan -Brown and Douglas
Brown and sons-in-law Ross Andrews and
Ross Daer.
Interment at Dungannon Cemetery.
Thomson reunion held
The 48th Annual Thomson Reunion was
held at St. Christopher's Beach on ,July 19
with 70 members present.
It was a beautiful day iiia very ideal place
and everyone enjoyed the delicious
smorgasbord lunch convened by, Dorothy
and 13111 Chase.
A short business meeting followed with
the president Mary Eisler welcoming
everyone present. Letters of greetings from
Eleanor Fisher and Hazel Chance of Win-
nipeg and John Thomson of Scottsdale,
Arizona were read. Greetings were later
received from Ruth Thomson of Claremont,
California and Norma Hager of Las Vegas,
New Mexico. The minutes of last year's reu-
nion were read by secretary Dorothy
Cornish.
During the afternoon, the sports commit-
tee of Gwen O'Rourke, Dave Miller and
Dave and Monica O'Rourke supervised the
races and games. The winners were as
follows: youngest present, Krystal Chase;
oldest lady, Irene Pepper;' oldest man, Dick
Cornish; •race 3 and under, Krista Fleming
and Christopher Alexander; race 6 and
uner, Darryle Bloomfield and Ryan Alex-
