Scholarships awarded .to students
Goderich District Colegiate Institute
graduates Ray Bedard and Tammy Allen
have joined 10 other students receiving
financial assistance with their post-
secondary education through scholarships
and bursaries from Champion Road
Machinery Ltd.
Bedard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Isadore
Bedar, is this year's scholarship winner,
while Allen, daughter of Mr. arid Mrs.
Larry Littlechild, is the bursary winner for
the upcoming school year.
The bursaries and scholarships are
awarded annuatly to a Champion
employee's son or daughter who is a high
school graduate with a high academic
standing. The successful applicants must
be well-rounded individuals who have been
involved in various activities both in
highschool and the community.
The scholarships will continue to be paid
to the students toward their second, third
and fourth years of university, while the
bursaries are awarded to college students
for the first and second years.
The awards for 1987-88 were presented
on July 20, by Champion vice-president
Bruce A. Sully, who congratulated the
recipi'ents-for- heir-hard-vvoolt id wished-
them every success as they pursue their
scholastic ambitions.
The 1987-88 recipients of the Champion
scholarships and bursaries are:
Ray Bedard .- A graduate of GDCI, he
will be attending University of Western
Ontario and will be studying Political
Science and Honors History:
Tammy Allen - A graduate of GDCI, she
will be attending George Brown College,
studying Human Service Counselling.
HARBOR REPORT
• The John B. Arid arived from Dulith
light for salt on .July 30 and cleared the
next day for Chicago.
The Saguenay arrived from Detroit,
light for salt, on July 31 and cleared Aug. 1
for Thunder Bay. The trip marked the
Saguenay's first time in Goderich
Harbour.
The Manitoulin cleared for Thunder Bay
with salt on July 28.
The Willowglen arrived from Midland,
light; to load wheat on July 29 and cleared
for Owen Sound on July 30.
The Willowglen arrived on Aug. 3 from
Owen Sound to load wheat.

Cindy Hayward - is returning to Univer-
sity of Western Ontario for her fourth year
of studies.
Kim -Y rit•ztey - -is-returning--to Wilfred
Laurier University for her third year.
David Weaver - is returning to Universi-
ty of. Waterloo for his third year of Pre -
Optometry.
Scott Wilson - is studying Actuarial.
Science in the co-op program at University
of Waterloo. This is his third year for the
scholarship.
Mari -Jo Collins - is attending Queen
University studying social science, on the
second year of her scholarship.
Mark Jeffrey - is attending University of
Toronto on his second year of the scholar-
ship, studying Engineering.
