Rev. Woods says goodbye
In what was his farewell service on Sun-
day, June 2I at • Victoria Street United
Church, Rev. John D.M. Wood celebrated
Holy Communion and welcomed new
members into fellowship. Those joining the
church . were Mr. James Harrison, by
transfer; and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ritchie,
by reaffirmation of faith.
Following the service; Ken Grigg, chair-
man of the Board, of Stewards, asked Mr.
and Mrs. Wood to come to the front of the
church to accept a presentation. Helen
Riehl, accompanied by children of the•Sun-
day School, presented the couple' with a
Gwen Kiar watercolor painting. Catherine
Robinson, on behalf; of the congregation, ex-
tended congratulations and best wishes to
John and Iva on their 40th wedding anniver-
sary and presented them with a quilt made
by Margaret Armstrong. Mr. Grigg then
made a presentation of a purse of money,
along with the best wishes of the congrega-
tion for continued good health and much
happiness in their retirement. The Woods,
who will be moving to St. John, N.B., then
expressed their thanks.
Following the service, everyone was in-
vited to share in the luncheon held
downstairs. The church hall was decorated
by the young women of the Sunday School
