New lives are just around the bend

ST. MARY'S SCHOOL
Father Hardy, Mr. McDade. teachers.
parents, guests, and fellow graduates: I
have been chosen to speak. to you tonight
on behalf o the 1986/87 graduating class
and I am very proud and honored to do so.
Many of vs here tonight have attended St.
Mary's school for the past nine years.
Tonight marks the end of our elementary
school years, it also marks the end of one
stage of our life and the beginning of
another. There 'have been many people 1 -
who have helped us get this far and who
contributed to our education. I would like
to mention a few of them.
First of all, I would like to thank our
parents, because without them we' would
not be here.•They have given us life, love,
and encouragement. They have given us
scoldings, pats on the back, and they sup-
ported us when we participated in sporting
events, science fairs, and public speaking,
and to them we say thank you.
Secondly, I would like to thank Mr.
McDade our principal and our teachers in
the past nine years who have played a very
important part in our presence here on this
graduating night. We thank them for their
professional skill, their knowledge, and
understanding to deal with each one of us
individually and as a group; and to them
we say thank you. -
Thirdly, I would like to thank Father
Loebach who prepared us for the
sacraments of Penance and Holy .Comnui,

Mon, and to Father Hardy who has come to
us loud and clear, he prepared us for the
sacrament of Confirmation, and thank you
for coming to Ottawa with us. We will not
forget you.
In the past few weeks each one of us has
been experiencing feelings of excitement
and joy, and we have mixed emotions
about leaving the closeness of this school,
and some fear as we look forward to the
future.
Although, I am glad to have reached this
part of my life, I too am saddened to leave
this school and the friends that I have
shared the past nine years.
I would like to take this opportunity to
wish all my fellow graduates the best in
what ever walk of life they may go; and I
hope we will keep in touch. I would like to
close my speech with this little poem:
As the past nine years -draw to a close
Bringing St. Mary's school to an end.
New lives ahead of all of us
Lie just around the bend.
•
Time moves on and so must we
For nothing can ever stay.
We'll remember the way we were
When we look back some day.
These years we have spent together
Are more important than you know
For these memories will be all that are
left
When our separate way we go:
CONGRATULATIONS AND THE BEST OF LUCK
