NUARY CLEARANCE
Rudolph the Red -Nosed Reindeer was the feature event of the play performed by the Grade
3 students of the Victoria Public School last Tuesday (December 16). The play, entitled
`Rudolph the Red -Nosed Reindeer shines again', highlighted the fact that Rudolph could
help Santa during his traditional ride because he didn't feel sorry for himself anymore.

Past Events
Geoff Walker went to the Whitechurch
meeting place September 20, but he did not
see any other members. To add to the
misfortune of bad weather, a parade in
Lucknow held him up. He did get to John
Miles' station and saw some banding, but it
was too wet a day for a good outing.
Seven members spent two hours on
several subjects at the November 16
meeting in Pine River United Church. Ruth
Walker took fossils for examination and
discussion. Bill Pace showed prints of past
club events and other wildlife. Bird -call
tapes were played and the birds identified.
Tom Lobb talked on the subject of bluebirds.
Christmas Bird Count
Meet at the home of Joe and Crystal
Burgess on January 3. Start -off will be 8
a.m. but people arriving later can probably
be formed into groups. Bring some food and
we will have a pot luck lunch. Phone Joe
Burgess or Geoff Walker for full instruc-
tions and directions.
John Miles, Box 659, New Hamburg, NOB
2G0 (519-662-3419) would like to receive
reports of all rare, usual first and last
sightings for the season plus any unusual
numbers (e.g. 1000 golden plovers). He
wanted these records for all of Huron Coun-
ty for submission to American Birds, for
which publication he is the sub -regional
editor for Huron County. If there is suffi-
cient interest, John will also maintain a list
of all bird species seen within a radius of 40
km of Amberley. This tabulation will com-
mence January 1, 1987, and will be updated
in the newsletter. Bruce County records
should be sent to Joe Johnston in Wiarton.
Regular Meetings
Arrangements have been made with Pine
River United Church for the club to meet
there at 8 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each
month during the season.
With regular monthly meetings and a
membership of 50 plus children, it is hoped
0 that attendance will improve. The club can
b 'ng in good speakers if they can be
agsured of good attendance.
Coming Events
The theme for the January 27, 1987
meeting is bird feeders. Geoff Walker has
donated a feeder as a door prize.
The February 24, 1987 meeting will
feature a talk on the Niagara Escarpment
by Don McLeod, geography teacher in
Kincardine.
Dates and places for the late winter and
spring field trips will be decided soon. The
possibilities include the following: Canoe-
ing on the Maitland River near Peter
Latinga's, bird -nesting spots along Pine
River near Point Clark, Robert Purves
,Lucknow place, a carver in the Nile area,
orchids ,on the Bruce Peninsuls, and
MacGregor Point.
