OPP say .RIDE
program works
The ongoing Ontario Provincial Police
Reduce Imparied Driving Everywhere
(RIDE) program is working, says OPP
District 6 Community Service Co-
ordinator Const. G. 0. Gaeler.
Since it's instigatio n Nov. 17 of this
year, a total of 112,555 -Vehicles have been
checked; 1,30612 -hour licence suspensions
.have been handed out; 637 persons have
been charged with alcohol-related
Criminal Code offences and 829 charges
under the Liquor Licence Act have been
laid as a result of spot checks across
Ontario.
Closer to home, in District 6 (Head Of-
fice Mount Forest). 10,632 vehicles have
been checked, 102 12 -hour suspensions
handed out; 49 persons charged with
alcohol related Criminal Code offences
and 103 persons have been charged under
he Liquor Licence Act, aas a result of spot
checks through the counties of Huron,

To date, less than 2,600 of the expected
19,500 seat belt cutters have arrived in
District 6 for distribution to the 15

check and the officer does not offer you a
seat belt cutter, it is simply because he
does not have them, as there is a problem
with the supply.
