Crowding the crease
Reaching for the puck during Shamrock Pee Wee hockey action Saturday in Goderich
wasn't enough for these two Lions as St. Marys defeated the host squad 7-1 with five late
goals in the third period. Andrew McLarty (6) scored the lone Goderich goal, as the
previously unbeaten St. Marys team stayed that way with the win. (photo by Andy Bader)
Five late goals result in 7-1 Pee Wee loss
If the Lions can play with the same inten-
sity for three periods this Saturday against
Strathroy as they did for two frames against
St. Marys, the coaches are sure they will
The undefeated St. Marys Pee Wees
tallied five times in the third period Satur-
day afternoon to break open a tight, hard
fought contest for a 7-1 victory over the
Goderich Lions Pee Wees in Goderich.
For two periods, both teams had good
scoring chances but inept shooting kept
them from producing goals.
The Lions' ever consistent centre Andrew
McLarty notched the only Goderich goal
early in the third perio&as his quick low
shot caught the corner. Aaron Duckworth
drew an assist on the play.
Whelan nets a
pair in 4-4 tie
Sam Hosack's goal with just 1:51 left in
the game gave the Goderich Pee Wee `B'
team a 4-4 tie with Huron Park in Huron -
Perth hockey action Friday night in
Goderich.
Huron Park took a 2-0 first period lead
with goals 29 sec6nds apart before Goderich
got on the scoreboard midway through the
second period. Shawn Carver got the locals
moving, with Chris Erb and Jason
Duckworth assisting.
Huron Park restored their two -goal lead
three minutes later but a marker by Jared
Whelan with just five seconds remaining on
the clock in the second period brought the
home team within one goal again. Hosack
and Jason LeBeau assisted.
Early in the third, Whelan notched his se-
cond of the game to tie the game but Huron
Park took another one -goal lead midway
through the final frame.

as Bantams rip Dorchester 10-2

the Goderich Elevator Bantams to a convin-

day night.
The entire team played well in the lopsid-
ed win, as Sideris paced the team to victory.
Other scorers were Greg Alcock with two,
Chris O'Neill, Brian Lane and Tim Har-
rison. Greg DeWinter assisted on three of
the Goderich markers with Harrison,
Alcock, Lane and Andre Cauchi receiving
credit for one assist each.
In Saturday's action at home to St. Marys,
the Bantams dropped, a 5-2 decision: The
game was a close one until midway into the
second period.
\Each team traded goals in the opening
period as Andre Cauchi converted a nice
pass from Brian Lane. Several breakaways
failed to result in goals and only the great
work in goal by Shawn Currie (who stopped
more than 50 shots) kept the Goderich club
in the game.
St. Marys scored three goals in the third
period before Goderich tallied on a hard
shot by Greg Alcock. Tim Harrison drew the

Resident angling licences are now
available for sale from the Ministry of
Natural Resources District Office in
Wingham and from designated outside
issuers throughout the Huron -Perth area.
As of January 1, 1987, most of Ontario's
residents between the ages of 18 and 64 will
require a licence to fish in the province. This
includes ice fishing; The licence cost is $10
for the year or $5 for any four consecutive
days.
The licences are expected to produce as
much as $9 -million in the first year of sale,
in addition to the more than $30 -million the
province already spends on fisheries
annually.
In the Wingham District, a number of pro-
jects are proposed with the funds from the
residei'it angling licence. These include: two
fisheries assessments involving chinook
salmon and yellow pickerel (walleye)
population research; stream rehabilitation
projects and rainbow trout stocking.
These projects hinge on the amount of fun-
, ding Wingham District is allocated in 19$7
from the resident fishing.licence revenues.

decision to Mitchell in a wide `open contest.
Goderich had trouble clearing the puck
from their own end and had breakaways
foiled. Jerry Hartin had three breakaways
and Jean Paul Cauchi went in alone once but
all failed to score. Blair Waterfield had the
puck stripped from him three times in his
own zone, creating three goals against his
team.
A final empty net goal by Mitchell in the
last two minutes gave Goderich the loss.

with Blair Waterfield adding the other.
