learned how a dairy- farm functions and
what a cow needs to eat. The children also
learned that cows have four stomachs and
give about 125 glasses of milk each day. The
Ontario Dairy Princess and Huron County
Dairy Princess discussed breeds of dairy
cattle, Canada's Food Guide and nutrients
in inilk.
Mrs. Clarke's Grade 3 class reporters,
Carrie Meriam and Angela Brindley,, report
that the class had a visitor, Mr. Cliff Mann,
who came to show them some experiments.
He showed the class how to get iron out of
water and how much calcium is in the
water. This week the students made it rain
in the classroom by using a cookie sheet, ice
cubes and a kettle. They put the ice cubes
on the cookie sheet and heated the kettle
underneath it to make it rain. Another
classroom visitor was Mr. Warren Robinson
who showed the class how to mime. The
students welcomed new student Matt,
Hunter and are introducing John S. Dalton
this week.
Mrs. D. Graham taught a lesson on line
and texture to Grade 3 students. Students
enjoyed outlining their various textures
with black strips of paper. Mr. Robinson in -

are busy practising with their Grade 4 bud-

Mrs. Tebbutt's Grade 6 students were
pleased with the results of the Lucknow

Robinson, Mrs. MacLennan, Mrs. MacKen-
zie, Mrs. Dhalival, Mrs. Johnston and Mrs.
Andrew for their help. The houses all turned
out very well and each one was decorated
differently according to each child's
creativity. We really want to thank Mrs.
Scott for making this day possible for
organizing it so well and for supplying the
candies for those who didn't have enough for
decorations. It was a.super project. Last
Thursday, Patricia Robinson went to
Robertson school to take part in a workshop
on Australia, with some other students from
Brookside and four other schools.
The reporters interviewed Mr. Rod Culp
who came to Brookside in September to
teach Grade 4 and 5 in Portable 2. Mr. Culp
lives on a small farm near Goderich. He is
happily married to his wife Veronica and
they have two children, Randy, who is in
Grade 10, and Alison, who is in Grade 8.
Mr. Culp came to Huron County in 1975 to
teach at Clinton. He has taught Grades 5-7.
He came from the Niagara area where he
had worked in a canning factory. He is a
graduate of the Univeristy of Guelph where
he got his degree in agriculture.
Mr. Culp enjoys working outside in his
spare time, gardening and growing
strawberries. He likes living in a rural area
na her45 taac.hi!g in the portable
because he feels it allows him a little more
freedom. Staff and students welcome Mr.
Culp to Brookside and feel we are fortunate
to have him.
Brookside is proud of our teachers aide.

manager, Mike Eperjesy, in the country
for most of 1987 to implement and super-
vise the training program. Zimbabwean
officials will also travel to Champion's
manufacturing plant for technical and
fleet maintenance training.
The process of bringing the country's
fleet up to full operational conditions
began with a full analysis of the company's
equipment.
The major aim of the program is to pro-
vide a technical support system in coun-
tries where conventional North American
methods don't work.
"This is a pilot project by CIDA which is
intended to ensure that countries like Zim-
babwe can maximize the use of expensive
and technically advanced machinery. The
end result of this program will be a better
trained workforce for the government of
Zimbabwe," Sully said.
