RUBY ADELE HAWTHORNE
Mrs. Ruby Adele Hawthorne of Goderich
died at Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital on Friday, December 5 at the age
of 93. -
She was born in Dungannon on July 18,
1893, the daughter of Stephen Stothers and
Sarah Davidson. She was predeceased by
i e ieuse,cuid, Walther Hawthorne.
Surviving are one daughter, Doris
Hawthorne of Goderich; five sons, Robert
and Charles both of Hamilton, Franklin of
Lucknow, Donald of Toronto, and John of
Beaverton; ten grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Monday,
December 8 , at the McCallum and Palla
Funeral Home with Rev. G.L. Royal of
Knox Presbyterian Church officiating.
Pallbearers were Steven Hawthorne,
Cameron Hawthorne, Geoffrey
Hawthorne, Jim Hawthorne and
grandsons:
Interment was in Maitland Cemetery.
MARY ELIZABETH O'DONNELL
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth O'Donnell, of RR 6
Goderich, died at Victoria Hospital in Lon-
don on Friday, December 5 at the age of 66.

1919, she was the daughter of the late John
Joseph O'Neill and the former Martha Sin -

Surviving are her husband, Desmond
O'Donnell; one son Paul and his .wife
Elaine of Uoderich, one brother, James
O'Neill of Goderich; two sisters, Dorothy
(Mrs. James Moore) of Marysville,
Michigan, and Catherine (Mrs. Cyril
Austin ► of Kingsbridge; and grandson,
Curtis O'Donnell. brothers,
She was predeceased by
Thomas, John and Michael O'Neill.
A funeral service was held at St.
Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in
Kingsbridge on Monday, December 8 with
Father E.J. Detinger officiating. Prayers
were held at the McCallum and Palla
Funeral Home on Sunday evening.
Pallbearers were Pat O'Neill, Eddie
O'Neill, John Howard, Jim Sinnett, Ken
Fitzpatrick sand Bill Cowen.
Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
CHARLES LEROY BROWN
CharlesDecember 6 at the age of

1923, he was the son of the late William
Nelson Brown an;; the former Maude
Young.
Surviving are brothers William A.
Brown and Benson B. Brown and several
nieces and nephews. brothers Albert,
He was predeceased by
John and Jim and sister Aliie Fielder.
The funeral service was held at the Mc-
Callum and Palla Ieuneaal Home on Mon-
day, December 8 with Rev. G.L. Royal of
Knox Presbyterian Church officiating.
Interment was in Dungannon Cemetery.
ROBERT JAMES SMITH
Robert James Smith of London, and
formerly of Clinton and Goderich, died
November 28 at his home in his 71st year.
Surviving are his wife, the former
Isabelle Gray; one son, Jim of Windsor;
one daughter, Jane of Toronto; and three
grandchildren, Robbie, Michael and
Johnny. He is also remembered by his
many friends and workmates at the Lon-
don Free Press.
The funeral was held December 1 at the
Memorial Funeral Home in London for
family only. The burial took place in Staf-
fa, Ontario.

Keith Clark Hopkinson died at Lions Head Dr. Bruce served in the RCAF from • Interment in Bayfield Cemetery.
Hospital on Saturday, Ndvember 8 in his
98th year.
Surviving are two daughters, Audrey
Muchan of London and Margaret Taylor of
Victoria, British Columbia.
He was predeceased by his wife, Adelaide,
and three sons, Keith, George and Dr.
Mervin.
A funeral service was held Monday,
November 10 from Central United Church in
Lions Head with interment at White Castle
Memorial Cemetery in Ancaster u!i
November 11.
The George Funeral Home in Lions Head
was in charge of arrangements.
Donations to the Lions Head Hospital
would be appreciated.
DR. JOHN D'ARCY CHARLES BRUCE
Dr. John D'Arcy Charles Bruce, of
Bayfield and formerly of Sarnia, died on
December 2 at his residence. He was 69
years old.
On January 15, 1917, Dr. 'Bruce was born
in Winnipeg, Manitoba to the late Randolph
Douglas and Catherine Louisa (Sinclair)
Bruce. After graduating from the Faculty of
Medicine at The University of Manitoba in
1941, he married Helen Jean MacKenzie in
Moosejaw, Saskatchewan on December 30,
1942-46 and practiced medicine in Sarnia
from 1947-72. He was past -president of the
Medical Staff at the Sarnia
on the General Hospitalaff of

From 1972-80, Dr. Burce was employed
with the Ministry of Health as a staff doctor
at the Bluewater Centre in Goderich
Township, the McKinnon -Philips Centre in
Owen Sound and at the Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital in Goderich. At the

Dr. Bruce is survived by his wife, two
daughters, Mrs. David (Sherrill)
Ledingham of Mississauga and Barbara of •
Montreal; one son, Robert and his wife
Melanie of Toronto; and two grand-
daughters, Elaine and Melissa Ledingham
of Mississauga.
He is also survived by one brother, Lorne,
of Transcona, Manitoba.
A funeral service was held on December 8
at Ball and Falconer Funeral Home, Clin-
ton, ,with Rev. John Hoekstra officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Pere Allston,
Jack McKenzie, Len Apedile, Dr. James
Garrett and Dr. Hank Gibson.
Active pallbearers were Bruce Adams,
Brian Adams, Joseph Grimes, Paul Char-
ron Lee Schultz and Gordon Nettleton.
