Students in Mrs. Young's Grade 1 class have just begun their second reader. They know their number stories up to 5 now. They have also been working on their squirrel booklets. The booklets are about their trip to the Wawanash Conservation Area. Patricia Robinson and •Mellissa MacLen- nan are reporters for Grade 4. Mrs. Scott's Grade 4 class is studying the Kwakiute In- dians. They made a totem pole for their studies. The totem pole is eight ice cream cartons tall. They wrote legends about animals and also completed a weaving project. On November 14, art consultant Mrs. Graham visited Grade 6, Room 7 students and taught them how to, draw`- facial features. She also visited the Grade 1 students and helped them make a crayon resist winter picture. Mrs. Ottewell's Grade 3's enjoyed wat- ching their paper white`harcissus grow from four centimetres to 43 centimetres in just 19 days. We now have sotne lovely white blooms to smell. On Thursday, October 20 the staff played the senior girls volleyball team and won 45-20. On October 21 the staff played the senior boys volleyball team and won 36-34. All of the players put on a good show. Luck must have been with the teachers in winning both games either that or they paid the refs off. Mrs. Clark's Grade 3. reporters Debbie Ross and Jane deBoer introduced Ken Chambers. They are also doing water ex- periments. On Thursday, they went to see "Christmas Long Ago" at Lambton Heritage Museum. . Twenty-seven library assistants have joined the Library Club: They do many tasks which help to keep the Library runn- jng smoothly. Grade 7 students are finishing their murals. The murals depict fairy tales and the countries where they originated. The front foyer of Brookside was filled with ICON computers from the Board office this week and all classes had a chance to use them. Marie Parsons, a computer expert from Howich School, was on viand Monday to give computer week a good start. On Saturday, November 15, our senior girls and senior boys volleyball teams com- . peted in a volleyball competition at Goderich high school against teams from Robertson, Hohnesville and Colborne.
