Why don't parents give us
money when we want Craig asks
Dear Colleen:
Why don't our parents give us money when
you want it?
Craig
Dear Craig:
I get an allowance, but I don't get it for do-
ing work. I get it to learn the value of it.
Maybe a lot of kids in your class are getting
money, you. should tell your parents about
it; but it may not work, as it didn't work on
my Mom. You should spend some of your
allowance and save some for the rest of the
week, so you don't have to ask all the time.
Try to get a job to earn some money.
*****
Dear Colleen:
Could you give me some advice? Our cat
uses the front hall as a washroom. He has
already stained the wallpaper.
Your friend,
Mark.
Dear Mark;
Let your cat out more often to go to the
washroom. A vet said that having your cat
neutered may correct the problem.
*****
Dear Advisor:
Can you tell me how to stop my little sister
from going into my room and playing with
my stuff?
Yours sincerely,
Jason
Dear Jason:
If she goes into your room while you're at
school, gdt your parents or someone that's
at home to make sure she doesn't go in; or
ask your parents to put up a folding gate on
your door - make sure it's hooked.

*****

to the age of 9). Drop it into the Signal Star,
or mail it to The Goderich Signal Star, 'Kids

use newspapers for projects
By JASON CAMERON
ADRIAN RAU
and DUANE DURNIN
Brookside students have been busy this
past week with outdoor excursions and
new projects.
Mrs. Cameron's Kindergarten 2 class
visited the Wawanosh Valley Conservation
Area recently. During their guided tour,
the children discovered how the fall season
brings changes to the environment and
how it prepares itself for the winter
months.
Also travelling to the conservation area
were students in Mrs. Young's Grade 1 and
2 class. They were accompanied by Mrs.
Culbert and Mrs. Simpson.
Mrs. Clarke's room four class is now
known as Krakatoa, taken from a book
which the students are studying. The
students are conducting water ex-
periernents this week. Recently, they tried
adding water to sand, sugar and baking
soda to see which ingredients would
dissolve. Classmates of Joseph Buchanan
will be saying goodbye to their friend soon,
as he and, his family are Moving to
tV t rloo This cycle they are introducing
rae
Stephen Cere.
Students in Mrs. Ottewell's Grade 3 class
are learning a new research technique
called Take 45 with the help of Mrs. Blake.
They are learning a lot about animals.
Jack Chisholm brought two mounted
squirrels into the class for the children to
see.
Mr. Culp's Grade 4 and 5 class have en-
joyed the video series called The Prince
and The Pauper. They have made a
booklet and selected best actor and actress
from the program.
Mrs. Worsell's Grade 5 students have
started their new Three I's program. The
Three I's are individualization, in-
dependence and integration. Students are
encouraged to read about these topics
from a number of selsected books.
Newspaper research is the thrust ,of a
project being undertaken. by Grade 6
students of Mrs. Tebbuitt. They have been
clipping stories of international impor-
tance from newspapers and then sum-
marizing the clippings.
The Grade 6, 7, and 8 dosses have been
working on their volleyball skills and have
