GODERICH SIGNAL -STAR, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19, 1986—PAGE 7A
Achieving personal excellence is the
theme of a two-day seminar coming to
Goderich on November 22 and 23. The
Phoenix Seminar is a program designed, to
open the door to greater happiness, success
and achievement for men and women.
Until now people have had to travel to
Toronto or Kitchener to attend the seminar,
bud now it is being offered locally for those
interested in improving various aspects of
their lives.
The seminar was developed by Brian
Tracy, a Canadian who has an extensive
background in developing human potential
and personal effectiveness. In order to
reach more people, a video presentation
was created consisting of eight sessions.
Each session focuses on a different aspect
of attaining personal goals: becoming total-
ly self -motivated; releasing your sub-
conscious brakes; programming yourself
for success; using mental program techni-
- ques through visualization; activating your
success mechanism; unlocking your inborn
creativity; enjoying dynamic health and
stress -free living; and developing superior
human relations.
People who have attended the video
presentation of the Phoenix Seminar in the
past claim the two-day program has been
immensely valuable, teaching them how to
work towards achieving the things they
desire in life.
Because the seminar is on video, it is of-
fered at a fraction of the cost. An introduc-
tory free video preview of the Phoenix
Seminar will be held on Thursday,
November 13 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the
Goderich Lawn Bowling Club on Picton
Street. The seminar is planned for
November 22 and.23 and will be held at the
Bedford Hotel. For more information, call

One hundred Victoria Public School students participated in the Jump Rope program to
raise money for the Huron Chapter of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Working in teams of
six, the students skipped for two hours straight and raised $3,700 in pledges. Volunteer Fran
Carpenter and daughter Andrea were on hand for the presentation to Don Young,(right)

15 YRS. EXPERIENCE
By ALISON CLARK
The Grade 2-3 classroom at Colborne
Central Public School is home to a new
family. The classroom's guppies have had
four tiny baby guppies recently.
Students in Grade 2 and 3 made cup-
cakes recently. and decorated th with
raisins and sparkles. A group ti
mothers
helped with the baking.
Mr. Medd's Grade 4-5 class sketched pic-
tures of their teacher although we aren't
exactly sure what Mr. Medd thought of
them. They are also entering the Legion
literacy contest as are many other classes.
On Remembrance Day, we had an
assembly in the gym at 10:45 a.m. Earlier
that day, Mrs. Fisher distributed poppies
to all of the classes with everyone wearing
them to the assembly. After the singing of
0 Canada, Mr. Ross told us about the
seriousness of Remembrance Day. He
read a poem entitled "Why Wear a
Poppy'„
Ian and Jackie placed a wreath..at our
Cenotaph and we all paused for a period of
silence. We remembered those who died
"so that we can enjoy the life that we do'en-
joy. Our Senior Choir than sang Song of
Thanksgiving and led the classes as we
sang 0 Valiant Hearts.
Mr. Ross then introduced a film called
The Mitt. In this film, a young boy sacrific-
ed the purchase of a new ball glove so that
his Mom could have a new dress. Even the
kindergarten students could relate to this
type of sacrifice. All the classes then
returned to their classrooms to discuss
how the film related to Remembrance
Day. -
We would like with
thank the Legion for
supplying us with poppies. The children
have been bringing in their pennies, dimes
and quarters to help pay for them.
Mr. Bond's Grade 6-7 class and Mr. Har-
man's Grade 7-8 science class went to
Wawanosh on November 7 to learn about
their science topic, the interdependence of
living things.
Grade 7-8 students completed music pro-
jects dealing with percussion instruments.
Everyone did well handing in booklets,
making instruments or playing on glasses
filled with water.
The senior teams have been picked for
volleyball. Members of the senior boys
team are Ian Wark, Steven Stothers, Chris
Clements, Regan Millian, Corey Budden,
Chris Geddes, Jason LeBeau, Jason Wray,
Brett Harman and Barry Kerr. Members
of the senior girls team include Shannon
Millian, Marcy Stoll, Judy Orr, Linda
Kerr, Nicole Miller, Rita Johnston, Rose -
Marie Young, Jackie Vanstone and Alison
Clark. Both of the senior teams will com-
pete in a tournament atGD in
November 15. ' f
We would like to takeili 'opportunity
thank all of the patents aindfriends who
supported our cheese sale. Lastvweek, we
ordered over four thousand dollars worth
of cheese. We expect the cheese to arrive
today for distribution. Thanks again for
your continued support.
The Grade 8 students have been busy
planning the Colborne Central School float
for the Goderich Santa Claus Parade
which will be held November 22-. Details of
the actual float are top: secret but rumors
have it that work has already started.
The Grade 7-8 class at Colborne Central
needs old' shoeboxes for the Christmas
Concert. If you can help, please drop them
off at the school or at 263 Eldon St. in
Goderich.
