Use
of video helps sell and service Champions
There is no under -estimating the
value of video production to
Champion Road Machinery.
"It is absolutely fundamental to our
marketing efforts," explained
Graham McEwan, manager off the
company's modern video
communications department.
With a smile, Mr. McEwan
admitted that this is not a video
orocluetion tenni that is looking for
clever production effects. "There
are no wipes, dissolves or fancy
fades that you see in broadcast
television video," he said. "What we
specialize in is speed, efficiency, and
very high quality communications
with our Champion salesmen,
servicemen and customers."
Industrial video, he explained,
deals indifferent messages than
broadcast tv video and it is a far
bigger business. Champion video is
aimed at selling the product, in
training sales personnel and in
providing clear video direction on
how Champion motor graders can be
repaired and down time kept to a
minimum.
"It is very difficult to haul a road
grader around to demonstrate its
sales and service features. It is
very easy to have high quality video
on hand which shows major features
and how a major overhaul is
accomplished," said Mr. McEwan.
"All a representative has to do, for
example, is put a few videos in his
briefcase and he is ready to
demonstrate the machinery
wherever he can find a video
machine — and video machines can
be found in most places around the
world these days."
The library of Champion video
tape that sale3men can call on these
days includes thoroughly prepared

products so that employees can
learn to compare and to focus on
Champion strong points.
Champion, he said, remains a
leader in the industrial video sector.
"Few companies have done asamuch
as we have and have tackled quite so
many different projects. "The
Champion video department, in fact,
is in production all the year round
keeping pace with the latest in
technical developments and making
sure that all its video productions
are as up to date as possible.
Champion produces its videos in

purpose.
Video production is painstakingly
thorough and the completed videos
have to be carefully prepared and
formatted for international video
markets where different television
signals can be in operation. "It is no
good at all sending out a video to
Africa or the Far East that is going
to prove unusable."
