Visitors
Prime Ministers visited Champion
Champion has welcomed many visitors to its manufacturing plant
over the years and, as evidenced by the photos, Canadian Prime
Ministers were among the guests. In the photo above, Prime Minister
Lester B. Pearson leans on a Champion while he was in Goderich in
1961. A.V.M. J.A. Sully and Ernie Fisher toured the grounds with the
prime minister. In the photo below, Prime Minister John Diefenbaker
tours the Maitland Road manufacturing facility. Defeated in the 1953
election by. Louis St. Laurent, Diefenbaker was elected in 1957 and
again in the 1960s after losses to Pearson.
