Dear Colleen: Why do parents make us do the .work that they could easily do themselves? Billy -Jo Dear Billy -Jo: Your parents make you do work so that when you grow up you learn responsibility. Dear Colleen: 1 see a lot of people who have very poor manners around others., Why do they behave this way? Jana Dear Jana: A lot of people think they are funny when they are rude, and people like to copy them so that they are funny too. Maybe Colleen Osborn they have an older brother or sister who does that kind of thing at home and they copy it. Dear Colleen: Why aren't we allowed to stay up as late as we want? Dwane Dear Dwane: When you stay up too late, the next day you are crabby, and no one likes a crabby kid. If you have a question or a problem that you would like to ask Colleen, (kids up to the age of 9) drop it into the Signal Star, or mail it to The Goderich Signal Star, 'Kids Korner', P.O. N7A 4B6. , Projects keep Robertson' School students quite active By STEVE ATCHISON and JOEY GAVIGAN October has been a busy month for Grade 3, 5 and 7 students who are writing the Canadian Achievement Test (CAT). Although they are almost finished, good luck is wished to everyone. Senior girls Volleyball try -outs are tak- ing place at the school for the next two weeks. On Nov. 15, the new team will com- pete at G.D.C.I. Students in Mr. Currie's Grade 5 science class are busy studying different plant families this term. Thet were surprised to learn that corn, sugar cane and bamboo were members of the grass family. Most of the Grade 5's didn't know that cabbages, beets, trunips and carrots didn't produce seeds until the second year of their life and are called biennials. They have brought many interesting plants into the classroom to examine further. The Senior Choir was very happy to help celebrate ,the 75th anniversary of Family and Children's Services. The Grade 7 and 8 choir, consisting of 118 students, sang at Stanly Township Hall on Oct. 29. Special thanks to the parents who accompanied the choir. Students in 8C have been enjoying their time spent with their buddies in Grade 2. Reading, listening and writing are all a Friendly corpse On Friday, October 31st, the 'Students Council hosted a Halloween Party for the entire student body. They have been making treat bags, black cats and Hallo- ween cards as well as reading many Hallo- ween poems. They have been preparing songs for a Halloween assembly and are looking forward to their Halloween party. Mr. Scratch's Grade 6 class has been studying Mexico City in Social Studies.
