Club president, Mike Gibbs, presented the cheque to Sailors' manager Don Larder. The club also assisted the Survival Through Friendship House and the Goderich Legion Branch 109 Poppy Fund. Proceeds from the club's annual Music Festival and Friends helps support a number of community groups and activities. (photo by Dave Sykes) mailliMINIONIMINIMMEWEimummoommissum Local woman celebrates 98th Mrs. Agnes Foster celebrated her 98th. birthday on Saturday, Oct. 25. Mrs. Foster's family met on Sunday, Oct. 18,.at 'the home of Jack Pitblados, in St. Catharines, to celebrate. Mrs, Foster was the honored passenger on the Hawkins float in the Port Albert Ses- quicentennial Parade, this past summer. She is the oldest living descendant of John Hawkins, the first settler at Port Albert. Mrs. Foster, while usually enjoying good health, is at the moent in Goderich Hospital, but would eagerly 'appreciate visits from old friends in the area. 'HARBOR REPORT The Agawa Canyon arrived in the Goderich Harbor, from Cleveland light for salt on Oct. 14 and cleared for Thunder Bay on Oct. 15. The Algosoo arrived from Port Weller, light for salt on Oct. 16 and cleared for Milwaukee and Chicago on Oct. 17. The Agawa Canyon arrived from Toledo light for salt on Oct. 22 and cleared on Oct. „ 23 for Bay City. The Algoway arrived from Cleveland light for salt on Oct. 24 and cleared for St. ,Joseph on.Oct. 25. The barge Buckeye arrived from Chicago, light for salt, on Oct. 26, and cleared for Green Bay, Wisconson the same day. The Algorail also arrived from Midland, light for salt on Oct. 26. The Beechglen arrived from Thunder bay, loaded with grain on Oct. 16 and cleared for Thunder Bay, light, on Oct. 18. The Antadoc arrived from Thunder Bay, loaded with grain on Oct. 23 and cleared light for Thunder Bay on Oct. 24. The October meeting of the Dungannon UCW was held at the church basement. Roberta Linskill was in charge of the devotional. She opened . the meeting with prayer "Now thank we all our God" was sung with Roberta as the. pianist. The scrip- ture reading from Psalm 136 was given by Karen Roberts. This was followed by the singing of "Come ye thankful people come." Donna Young read a poem "Give me a thankful heart". Psalm 771. A General Thanksgiving was repeated in unison. Dorothy Pentland gave two readings, Thankfulness and Thanksgiving on the tarm. Roberta Linskui tnen read from Psalm 95 and 96': Her theme on Thanksgiving mentioned how during the early 1600 the Pilgrims held their 'Thanksgiving. They did not have much, but what they had they were truly thankful for. Ruth McKenzie read a poem For exciting moments. This was followed by singing I thank the Lord my maker. Roberta closed the first part of the meeting with prayer. Collection was receivOd and the roll call was answered by Something you are thankful for. Nora Saunders presided for the business part of Llie meeting, which included the reading of the minutes, the treasurer's report and correspondence. An invitation from the Auburn UCW was received to their Thank Offering Service on October 22. Penny Boxes have to be in by the November meeting.
