celebrates
Saturday, Oct. 18 marked the celebration
f the 85th anniversary off the Maple Leaf
hapter IODE. Members gathered at the
itland Country Club for a luncheon.
egent Mrs. Catherine Boddy welcomed
veryone. Head table guests included
ayor Eileen Palmer and Mrs. Catherine
hristmas of Blenheim, IODE Provincial
resident. Mrs. Madeleine Edward traced
he Chapter's history and introduced the
ast Regents. Each Past Regent gave a
hort resume of her time in office and many
emories were shared.
Twenty-five year pins were 'presented to
Ruth Ross, Beth Remington, Edna Rayner
nd Audrey Royal. The luncheon concluded
ith the traditional IODE Closing.

Knox Presbyterian WMS afternoon aux-
iliary met in the church parlor Oct. 21. The
president, Mrs. R. McAllister in her call to
worship used a thanksgiving poem and
prayer.
Mrs. Eleanor Stevenson first vice presi

brought greetings from the Presbyterial
Mrs. Jean Murchison, in her meditation, u
ed the thanksgiving worship from the "Gla
Tidings". Then, she introduced he
daughter, Mrs. Joan Tracey3 of Kitchener
as guest speaker. Joan a registered nurse
had spent considerable time working among
the northern Indians. She gave a very in
teresting and infor"inative talk on the In-
dians living in. their own habitat, enjoying
their own culture, living peacefully, sharing
and helping each other, disciplining and lo
Mg their children. They are very happy in
their own way, but upset by the intrusion of
the white people.
Mrs. Murchison closed the meeting witl
prayer.
Hidden among the ceramic pumpkins at the show was Sharon Johnston, showing her wares
from Ceramics For You. A previous ceramic store owner, she now works out of her home.

CWL holds
annual Bazaar
The St. Peter's Catholic Women's
League held its annual Harvest Luncheon
and Bazaar in the parish hall Saturday.
Several draws were held and the win-
ners are; Rene Brouch, Clinton, afghan;
Diane Buchanan, Goderich, sewing
basket; $25 gift certificate from the Bed-
ford Hotel, Eric Slater, Goderich and
Leslie Roche, won the Wealthy Wrinkles
Dog valued at $135.
The centrepiece was won by. Joan
Walden, Goderich and.Jackie A11in, guess-
ed the weight of th pumpkin at 29 pounds

Auxiliary plans
to hold bazaar
The Auxiliary to Alexandra, Marine an
General Hospital met Oct. 20 for its regular
meeting.
Attention was drawn to a picture of the
Goderich Lighthouse, donated by Mr. an(
Mrs. J.J. Martin, to be hung in a hospit-
room.
Arrangements were finalized for a bake
sale and bazaar, including a White Elephant
table, to be held in the Auxiliary Room on
Friday, Dec. 5. •
Encouraging reports were given by the
various convenors as the Auxiliary con
tinues to provide services to the hospital and
patients.
A donation of $200 was made to the
Nurses' Library and financial assistance
given to help defray expenses of a staff
member who was chosen to attend a Nurses
Conference in Toronto.
Several members reported highlights of
the Regional Conference held in Goderich,
Sept. 29.
The Auxiliary agreed to participate in a
fund-raising proposal to provide funds for
the purchase of a microscope for use in the
operating room.
Auxiliary meetings are held at the
hospital the third Monday of the month and
new members would be riiost welcome.
