Euchre Results
The first euchre game started on October
14 at the Auburn Community Hall at 8 pm.
Winners were: high lady - Erma Cart-
wright; high man - Clarence Allin; low lady
- Bernice McClinchey; low man - Len
Shobrook; novelty - Mary Shobrook. Euchre
parties will be every Tuesday night at 8 pm.

Sympathy is extended to the Robertson
family on the death of Mrs. Elmer Robert-
son in her 88th year. She was a long time
school teacher and formerly lived m Col-
borne Township.
Mrs. Len Archambault and Marjorie
McDougall attended the 72nd Annual Con-
vention of the London area Women's In-
stitute on October 16 and 17. This was held at
the Ukranian Country Club, London.
Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Robertson of
Meaford visited with M.r_ and Mrs. Tom Jar -

Mrs. Jean Hodgins and Miss Norma Cout-
tes of Wingham visited recently with Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Jardin.

The WMS meeting of the Presbyterian
ladies was held at the home of Erma Cart-
wright on Wednesday, October 15.
The president Martha Daer presided and
welcomed all to the meeting.
We followed the worship service from the
Glad Tiding's entitled Christian
Stewardship.
The special speaker was Pat Nunn of St.
Mark's Anglican Church. She spoke on the
roll of women in the church. Next meeting
will be at the home of Marian Haggitt in
November
Knox United Church
Anniversary Service
Rev. Rick Hawley conducted the morning
anniversary service at Knox United church.
' Organ and Piano Prelude was by Mrs.
Gordon Gross and Lori Millian.
The junior choir sand "Did you ever talk
to God above" under the direction of Mrs.
Allan Webster, and Mrs: Gordon Gross as
pianist.
The "Varna Singers" as guests sang two
numbers "I Saw The Light" and "Why
Me?".
The Life and Work of the Church and
Prayers were said. .
There was time for children and they went
to Sunday School rooms with their leaders.
Rev. Hawley's sermon was entitled "Call-
, ed to be Watchers". Offering was received
by Lawrence Plaetzer; Allan Webster, Gor-
• don Gross and Brian Ramsey.
Service closed with the Congregation
Benediction "The Lord Our God." Everyone
was invited downstairs to a luncheon served
by the UCW and to visit.with the Hawley's.

to rally
in Walton
The October meeting of the Dungannon
Women's Institute was held at the
home
f
Alma Black. Elmira Finnigan, president,
welcomed all and presided for the opening
of the meeting.
Roll call "A childhood memory of farm
wagons" was answered by such memories
as high steel -wheeled wagons with wide
racks for hay and sheaves, or the narrow
thick planks when used for gravelling
roads as each farmer had to do so much
roadwork each spring.
Minutes, teasurer's report and cor-
respondence was read by the secretary -
treasurer Alma Black. Correspondence in-
cluded a thankyou from the Huron County
Pioneer Museum for the quilt block, and
letters about the Health Fair.at Goderich
District Collegiate Institute November 12
at 8 pm and the area convention at London
in October when Praire Finnigan and
Alma Black will be delegates.
Jean Errington and Bessie McNee were
appointed delegates to the county fall rally
in Walton.
The topic for the meeting was Canadian
Industry and was very capably taken be
convener Joan Dougherty who told about
the making of the Penhale wagons and
harness in Bayfield.
Mr. Penhale and his employees .have
just started to manufacture 35 custom-
built Landau carriages to go to Kauai in
the Hawaiian' Islands. Joan showed pic-
tures of the special wagon built for Walt
Disney World for the Christmas parade in
Florida and of the parade in which it was
featured.
Next meeting is at the home of Jean Err-
ington and Donna Sue McClenaghan will
be the guest speaker.
Lunch was served by Joan Dougherty
and Alma Black.
