Mrs. Medve said community sources
have suggested that the enrolment of prac-
tising Catholic families who are regular
parishioners of Precious Blood Mission
might increase if this opportunity was
made available.
Mrs. Medve wrote "that our objective is
to raise the profile of this school (Precious
Blood School) in ,order to enhance public
awareness of our programs."
Mrs. Medve stated present kindergarten
enrolment is. nine pupils and in 1987 pro-
jected enrolment is 14 pupils with the pro-
jected beginners' class enrolment being 10
pupils. She pointed out that the school has
adequate space and equipment and bus
accommodation.
At the next meeting the board will
develop a policy to specify the criteria
under which a pupil is eligible to attend the
beginners' class.

A proposal to field test a beginners' class
at Precious Blood School in Exeter was put
on hold Monday night until the Huron -
Perth County Roman Catholic Separate
School Board has more time to consider
the class at its next board meeting on
November 14.
The principal of the school, Margaret
Medve, wrote a letter to the board on Oc-
tober 15 requesting permission to register
pupils who will have their fifth birthdays
between January 1 and July 1, 1987.
They would enter school on January 5 to
attend with the kindergarten class which is
taught by Anna Marie Cook. In September
1987, these pupils would be registered in
kindergarten.
She wrote that the beginners' class
would accommodate those 10 children with

She said other parents have indicated that

taining them in the non-sectarian nursery
school for an additional year.
school purposes to the separate school
board rather than to the public school
board. These ratepayers°are encouraged
"to cherish and retain your rights to be a
separate school supporter, whether or not
you have children in public secondary
school or no children in either an elemen-
tary or secondary school".
At the last meeting of the board, a steer-
ing committee was formed to further in-
vestigate the feasibility of Catholic Secon-
dary education in Huron County and report
findings by March 1, 1987.
Monday the board named three parents
to serve on the committee: Jane Gillespie
of St. Joseph; Louise Martin of
Kingsbridge; and Jack Flanagan of RR 1
Dublin. The trustees had changed their
minds and named three parents, rather
than two. Two pastors are yet to be named.

tion has worked diligently to present its case
to the provincial°government. The group has
drafted a 23 page brief, members have lob-
bied at Queen's Park and district boards of
education have been asked to endorse the
OPSTF position.
Mr. Kendall said that the OPSTF has
received strong support from school
districts across the province and local
boards are moving to endorse the request
for more funding.
As well, a survey taken two years ago
showed that a large majority of the general
public supported the need for better elemen-
tary education and additional money to help
fund the programs.
"I sense we're going to win," Mr. Kendall
enthused.
